ren89:  Dang it, he deleted the topic! Dude, own your dog-poo proposal! Own it!

Well, I don’t have anything to top that, but when my dad proposed to my mom, evidentally he was so nervous he said handed her the box then said, ‘I really have to go to the bathroom’.

ren89:  Personally, I don’t get the proposing while being arrested – whether it is a practical joke or real. Whenever I think of proposals gone wrong, I think of the stories I have heard where the ring has been buried in the sand and lost, or tied to a helium balloon and has floated away.

ren89:  I have a similar one from a university friend!  He planned to propose before bedtime on the balcony of their bed and breakfast  after a perfect day in wine country with a romantic dinner.  She was TOTALLY expecting it after years of being together but thought that it would happen during the day. She got ready for bed and had a complete meltdown in the bathroom and came out bawling hysterically and breaking up with him.  A big fight ensued with the ring being flung at her and 11 years later they’re still together haha. Oh boy.

ren89:  I have no idea why it is a thing, but I’ve seen different versions of it on youtube througout the years. I guess because it’s totally unexpected? But anyways, here are a few samples…

SunshineSmiles:  nor mine. I get wanting to be unique, but why does a proposal have to be a theatre production?

My dad proposed to my mom by writing a note and hanging it on a light over the kitchen table then went to work. My mom found it and he spelled her name wrong! She married him anyway and they were happily married for 26 years before he passed.

My daughter’s cousin got a proposal at taco bell. He stuck a sauce packet that said “will you marry me” through the ring and gave it to her, lol. They are still happily married though, so goes to show that the proposal is not necessarily an indicator if anything.

My proposal was worse than that I think. He asked me over the phone

An old co worker of mine was proposed to at the bank she worked at. Her fiancé had his grandmother’s ring in his safe deposit box and he popped the question right then and there! I wouldnt say it was a bad proposal, just an odd place to propose!
