I had consistent spotting in early pregnancy. I went into outpatients at 6 weeks worried because of spotting and a little cramping and things were fine although it was a little too early to see the heartbeat, which worried me. I continued to have symptoms though and felt exhausted all of the time. At 9 weeks I had another bout of spotting that lasted a week and again, I was nervous but didn’t read too much into it because things had been fine the last time. at 13-14 weeks I had constant spotting as well and went into outpatients again only to be given an ultrasoud and to see my baby moving around like crazy in there. Since then I have not had any spotting but I can say that it was a big source of stress for me in my first trimester. I have found new things to worry about in the second trimester…believe me.. there’s always something! And I’ve been told that it doesn’t end when they’re born 🙂

When I was 7 weeks pregnant I experienced some brown spotting (think khaki color at first). I called my doctor and they said while they believe it could be normal to come in and get my blood drawn. My light brown turned into dark brown and I was getting nervous. My results came back and my Hcg was good (64000) but my progesterone was pretty low (10). That was cause for concern. If I didn’t raise my progesterone levels then that could lead to a miscarriage. Thankfully I got a prescription for some progesterone vaginal suppositories and am not 28 weeks pregnant with two very healthy and very active boys.

And as a PP mentioned no matter what you are going to be worried about something during pregnancy. First is miscarrying, then is the baby developing alright? Then ‘omg are they moving is that gas? Are they not moving?! Baby moooooove!’ Then comes ‘oh god a contraction…is this a BH or a real contraction? How many have I had in the past hour?’ etc. etc.

I am 18 weeks and I had slight spotting at 5 weeks, and then this week I had spotting agAin. Started as a tiny amount thursday night and yesterday there was bright red blood when I wiped – but still a small amount. I went to my ob, and they did an exam and an ultrasound an everything looks fine. In my case they said the uterus has such an increasedblood flow sometimes normal sexual activity can cause irritation there. Anyway, sounds like tours is more implantation bleeding, but it can totally be normal.

Sorry if a lot of that was tmi.

@kw948103:  I posted about this a week or so ago because the same thing happened to me. I had spotting on the day that my period was due. It was also the day of my first doctor’s appointment so my GP sent me to get an ultrasound to make sure the pregnancy wasn’t ectopic. I went a full week without any spotting at all and then had a tiny amount this past week, but since it’s already been confirmed that my hcg and progresterone are good and i know that the pregnancy is intrauterine, i am not so worried anymore. I used to have the Mirena IUD and I had a lot of spotting while I had that, so I think maybe I’m just prone to it.
