What do you and your spouse call each other? I think it would be fun to call each other Wifey and Hubs once married. We call each other "Honey" or "Hunn" right now. What I don't ever want to use once married is "Mom" and "Dad". That is just too weird for me, but I have heard my parent's friends call each other that. I don't want to come home and say, "Hi Dad!" or hear my husband call me "Mom"
What a funny post! Lately, for some reason, we have been calling each other "friend." I'll get text messages from him that say stuff like, "You busy friend?" Who knows where it came from!
well, i used to say "hi boyfriend" and he'd say "hi girlfriend", then i said "hi babe" and he'd say "hi baby", then i said "hi bubba" and he said "hi bubbie", and now it's "hi bubs" and he says "hi bubs".
for my parents though... they call each other "mommy" and "daddy" because of my sister. when she was young, they would call each other "honey" and "darling". and because of that, my sister thought that was their names. so for a while, my sister would call my dad "honey" and my mom "darling".
so they had to start calling each other "mommy" and "daddy" so my sister would call them that!
I love saying hi FIANCE! We both do. We both waited a long time to call each other that so its fun. We also say my future husband and wife, it always gets a smile on our faces.
@Miss Texas: LOL that's like Disney's Lady and the Tramp. The names of Lady's owners are Jim Dear and Darling!
My FI and I have a million squishy nicknames for each other (which when most people hear them they make a face like they've just eaten a lemon wedge).
The latest is from Fivel Goes West: Baby-Bunkin-Bunker-Boos!
our nickname came from a progression from babe...it went from "hey babe" to "hey baby" when mumbled sounds like "hey bebe" which turned somehow into Meems or Meme. I have to be careful not to call him that in front of family and friends as it isn't very masculine and all the grandma's in our family are also called Mimi. I like it though, it's cute and it's ours. Once we get married though I do like the wifey and hubs or hubster.
I usually call my husband Pom Pom.. I can't remember how that came about, but I have called him that for a while now. Sometimes I call him Husbie as well.
Used to be "baybabe" for everything for both of us. Now its "babe" and occasionally fiance. Can't wait to call him hubby or hub :)
For awhile after the engagement, I still called him boyfriend; we were together for 6 1/2 years so it was hard to change! I still sometimes slip and then correct myself with "fiance." We also teasingly call each other "lovah." Everyonce in awhile we use "babe" but, come to think of it, we don't really use nicknames very often. Hmmmm....
Nicknames are so cute (but can be embarassing to admit!). He calls me "honey," "babe," and "cookie" -- don't know where the last one came from, but it stuck, hence my screen name. I call him "sweetie", "baby," and "moley", which is a made up word that rhymes with his first name.
Can't wait to call him hubby, though!
We are unbearably saccharine in our nicknames. I'll admit I love it :). Some of the ones I use are sweet pea, baby doll, babe, sweet darling, and lately, cookie (he smells like cookies to me!). We call each other sugar bear, or marriage bear (while we were engaged it was wedding bear). Sometimes I call him "Husband Man" (like a superhero!).
It's not very original but we use to poke fun at each other and call each other "Boo". Now that what we actually call each other.
I've always been someone to make up nicknames for people around me and my F just gets the worst of it. I still call him 'Boyfriend' or 'BF' (I'm not a huge fan of the term fiance, it just doesn't fit us), I also call him 'Buggle' (rhymes with snuggle), 'Green Bean' (he's really tall and skinny) and then 'Buggle Bean'. Also the common 'honey' and 'babe'.
He calls me 'Girlfriend', 'GF', 'Sweetpea', 'Honey', and 'Peanut'. I don't know where his come from or why lol, but I just continue to answer...
We call each other babe... way too much. We need to come up with some more original nicknames!
We call each other "honey" for the most part. We also have some other fun names like "Stan" when I ask him, "What's the plan, Stan?" He'll ask the same question and call me Fran. Then there's "What are you talking about, Willis" and I'm his Phyllis. Our most recent one is "Squishee," which came from a Japanese drama. I couldn't pronounce the girl's name, and I just called her Squishee.
HAHA - my parents still call each other Mom and Dad and the kids have long moved out!
We call each other pooks and pookie.
he calls me Kitty and I call him Crab...it came from a vacation we took in Cabo, where we saw a kitty hanging out with a crab.
We also call each other Peach Gummy (him) and Sour Bunny (me)
We're kind of um, untraditional with our oh so loving, pet names. We call each other "Woman". Even in public I would go, "woman, don't choose that one!" or at home, when I don't know where he is or I need him, I yell, "WOMAN!" and he'll answer back. It goes for me too, of course. ;) We don't really say it around his family or my family though. It's just mostly when we're alone together.
he goes by his middle name so i call him by his first name. his mother hates it, pretty funny.
we're not big on the nickname thing I guess...he calls me "pretty girl" or "beautiful girl" sometimes, and every once in a while I call him "honey" or "my dear" lol. Usually though we just use our first names or shortened/longened versions of our first names.
we're boring and just call each other honey. although since my name is bee, i guess that's appropriate!
When we first got together I started calling him Snuggle Bear and then after a while it was shortened to Bear. He stared calling me Honey Bunny, then just Bunny, and then somehow it became Bunny Princess. Now I still call him Bear and he still calls me Bunny or Bun Bun. We do it so much sometimes I catch myself talking about "Bear" instead of using his real name LOL.
I just realized that there are some nicknames that Baby-Bunkin-Bunker-Boos will not use because my exes have used them (and they are thus off-limits!) E.G. Pookie
My names for him: Bunkin, Bunkers, Bubbsy, Bubba, Babe, Baby, Punkin, Pumpkin-Munchkins, Muddles, Sweets, Ike, Noodles, and Fluff.
Nicknames for me: All of the above and: Peaches, Peach, Honey-darling, Darling, Sweet-luvin-munchkins, and Kitty
We're squishy, I know. But I love it!!![]()
Well we started out with Babe...and sometimes we say honey or hun. But I come up with seasonal nicknames and he returns the favor! Like for Fall we call each other pumpkin and for winter this year I started to call him my snowflake and he called me his snowbunny!! I love being his snowbunny!! :P
You know the weird thing about it....we dont ever call each other by our first names...it just sounds weird when we do!!
I'm surprised that we're the only ones who use the Seinfeld -- schmoooopie!!!!!!!
We use smoops, smoopie, smoopster, smooperific.
Also one of my bridesmaids came up with the best nickname when I was having a hard time transitioning from saying "my boyfriend" to "my fiance" ... she came up with fi-fi !!! ... I only only use it when I'm totally joking around him or if I'm begging him to do something for me ... "plleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease fifi???" it's really good with batting eyelashes -- doesnt work every time but sometimes :)
He calls me LBoogie because he likes Lauryn Hill (it's her nickname) and she and I have similar first names. I usually call him honey or hun.. I think it's the "southern" in me. :)
Like many others -- babe, honey and hon are common.
But he likes to call me weird things, too: sweet pea, rutabega, pickle, or whatever else he thinks of in the moment. :)
Thanks for all the response, it was fun to read everyone's nicks! I realized that ours have also evolved from baby to babe to honey and hunn. And ever since I watched the SATC movie, I also call him my Man-Friend.
@MissTexas: I understand parents do it for their kids. I have a friend whose 2 year old son would call him honey because that's what the wife called him. So he'd say to his dad, "Hi honey!" I thought that was hilarious when I heard it.
@Taffy: "tasty man treat" - Awesome! Do you say that in public?
@D.Marie: We never call each other by our first names either. It's just weird if we do. I think we've only done it 3 times each.
Okay so mine is all in fun and I dont know why but sometimes he calls me Hooker. I know but it is so funny when he does. Like when I buy a pair of shoes that are a little to much he says I am an expensive Hooker
. But the nice name is Love Bug.
His name is the classic Baby, but then I have Honey Bunches of Oats, that sometimes turns in to Honey Bunches of (what-ever ceral name I think of at that moment)
We both use babe and baby, and FI likes to claim that he uses Darling and Sweetie too, but he doesn't ;)
Ohhh we have about a million names we call each other. Mr. Sushi is notorious for randomly making up words. I usually call him baby when talking to him, but I call his son that too, so they get confused to whom I'm talking to. I also call him bupsy or my scooby snack. He calls me what ever random word he makes up at the moment.
He started out as "Punkin'" or "Pumpkin". Which I still use sometimes.
But when he started calling me "Mama-Bear", I began calling him "Papa-Bear" in response. Soooooooo cute. I posted about this when the new baby animal avatars came out, but I look forward to calling any future little ones "Baby-Bear". *sigh*
I give him tons of nicknames, but I mainly call him Babe and he calls me Angel. I have called him sweetie, hone, pumpkin, sweetpea, bumble-butt and cutie.
So corny, but we have been calling each other Moops and Moopiepants for about 5 years. Sometimes we slip in front of the fam and it is a little embarassing! He also calls me Miss Moops and The Mrs (even though we aren't married yet).
We call each other babe and honey for the most part. We WON'T be calling each other mom and dad. My FILs do that sometimes and I just think it's weird.
I def. don't like the idea of him ever calling me "mom"
I call him "tin" short for "muffin tin" no clue why...and not sure how much he likes it :)
