My B-party is next weekend in Vegas (yay!)

I'm planning on getting a mystic spray tan next week. I've had them before but a LONG time ago... can you guys help with some questions?

I know you have to let it soak in for a few hours (I'll probably have it done in the evening and shower in the morning) but should i shower before hand?

Should I shave beforehand or after?

Can get a mani-pedi before hand? or will the lotion screw it all up?

    Anything I'm leaving out?

    TIA

I haven't done it forever, but here is what I remember...no need to shower right before, but you should be fairly clean, well shaven, exfoliated & some lotion...wait at least 4 hours to shower...My cuticles get died, too, so I like to do the mani/pedi after...if you have rough feet make sure they are really lotioned up, or wear the booties they sometimes provide, or wipe them down first...for my wedding, I am thinking of doing the hand sprayed tan, of course costs more, but probably worth it for the BIG day.

Usually they have a cream that you put on your hands and feet...remember to do your elbows and knuckles, and if you put a glob on each finger and toe nail, you should be spared from dying your cuticles.

    Hi!

I do Mystic all the time.  The best advice someone gave me months ago is to tan in a regular tanning bed first.  I know it sounds crazy (and I rarely get in the regular beds) but it opens up your pores and honestly it just makes you a little more on the brown rather than orange.  Even if it's just for 5-6 minutes.  (I put on a white tanning lotion first)

Also -I agree with Bree that the cream that you put on your hands and feet is really important - just make sure to cake it on!

After the session, I usually put just a drop back on my hands and use it as lotion (but just a teeny bit)

Good luck!  I just did it tonight and plan to do it once more before the wedding next Saturday :)  Have so much fun at your Bachelorette party!!!

One of the best products out there for fair-skinned brides who turn orange easily with self tanner is called "Fake Bake Aerosol" - it is WONDERFUL! You use it at home, it has aerosol so it sprays on without rubbing (few at-home aerosols do!), and it has a great bronze color. Don't get in a tanning bed - that will do nothing but give you skin cancer! Exfoliate, shave, and put a light layer of lotion on your elbows, feet, heels, and knees. Then spray a light coating all over your body, and dry with a hairdryer. It sounds crazy, but it works!!! Don't get a pedicure after you get a spray  tan, they will exfoliate the tanner off of your ankles - making you splotchy!

I've heard good things about mystic tan, but recently discovered what I think is a better alternative.  They are tanning wipes made by a company called comdynes.  I found them on drugstore.com and the reviews were really positive.  I think the upside of these is that you can take some with you for touch-ups as needed.  Fake tans always turn blotchy at the end - after shaving, etc.  A quick wipe-down fixes the problem areas.  They're kinda pricey, but cheaper than spray tans (and expensive spa airbrush treatments).

Have a great time at your bachelorette party!
