A bunch of us posting under the February babies thread decided to open it up to all spring babies. There seems to be an awfully high number of pregnancy announcements lately! Plus the majority of us on the Feb board are actually due in March. So happy posting, ladies!
How's everyone feeling? As for me, my current obsession is the desire to tell people. One of my friends just announced she's pregnant and she's 4 weeks ahead of me. Keeping such a fun secret is very hard!
@AvantLaLettre:Yay for an all inclusive spring thread :)
@runningelly: yay great news!!! so happy for you :)
and yes, ive been DYING to tell my friends. hekck i even want to tell strangers. lol.
@Running Elley: YAY! Such great news. Enjoy it!!
Yeah.. I actually did tell 2 people I work very closely with and get drinks with after work sometimes and coffee almost every morning. It was too hard not to. We are all leaving our job in 1 month so I figured it doesn't matter. (Haven't told anyone else besides in-laws and my parents though). Well today one of them said "I can sort of see your belly starting to show!" She doesn't realize that 8 weeks is way too early for belly and it's totally all bloating... oy vey! Now I'm a little worried that this out of control bloat is noticeable to other people, too!
@Running Elley: I craved bacon all day on Sunday...so yesterday I had 6 pieces with breakfast because I couldn't stop! lol.
@AvantLaLettre: Yay! I wasn't sure if we had started this or not. = ) At least you didn't have to tell anyone before you wanted too. My SIL and Mom both posted on FB after we told close family, so I had to announce it before the DR even confirmed. But it's okay. = )
I still want soft serve frozen yogurt all the time...and I haven't been feeling so crappy as I had the past couple days. = ) Still a little bit of an upset tummy.
I also still have a hige feeling that it's a boy, but obviously we are way to early to tell.
@His Barista:Hahaha I'm sure I could've eaten a boatload of pancakes yesterday. Luckily that craving is gone, now I just feel blah.
@stargal34:@AvantLaLettre: Thanks!
Yay!!! I'm so excited that I get to be excited and talk to SOMEONE about being pregnant. I'm 4w2d right now and feeling pretty good. I have had a little nausea a few times but nothing major. I've also had some bizzare cramps that are finally going away.
We told his parents and sister and my parents and sister, but no one else. And they've all been put on lock down for the next 2 months! My poor dad is so excited and now he just has to keep it in I think he might bust! :)
Hi, I'm finally getting my appetite back. I am back to eating mexican food and smoothies.
@prettylizy:Congratulations!!! I agree, It's so nice to not have to keep quiet about it here on the bee :)
Think I'll join you ladies, I'm 4w5d--I just got my doctor's confirmation today, and the test turned positive with two of the most pathetic drops of urine you've ever seen in your life.
I told my Mom and my sister, and i think, that in turn they've probably told the whole world yet. Still haven't told DH's family. We probably will after we get our first ultrasound, I'll be getting more than one and my first is two weeks from today!
I actually feel pretty fine most of the time, except my sweet tooth has completely vanished. All I want to eat is roasted chicken! I guess there are worse things...
@Quietserenity:Welcome!! That's so exciting that your first US is so soon! My first OB appointment is 2 weeks from today and at that appointment we'll schedule my US so mine probably won't be until the middle/end of August. I can't wait to hear how it goes for you :)
@Quietserenity: Congrats!
What workouts are you all doing? I am trying to keep my gym membership, but it seems like there is nothing that I can do there that I can't do at home. I can no longer do my normal routine.
@Running Elley: I really want a girl. But I just can't shake the fact I feel it's a boy. I'll be happy either way, though. = )
@prettylizy: Yay! Congrats and Welcome! Don't say goodbye to the cramps just yet. Mine went away, but now they come back every once in awhile. I read in the expecting book that it is the Uterus expanding. Oh joy! That's awesome that you get to keep it a secret a little longer! I really didn't get to. = )
@trugem: Yay for appettite. I am glad to hear that you're able to eat again. Do you know of workouts? I had to cancel my membership because I wasn't cleared for my routine and I was told not to lift over 30 lbs. Right now I just walk and do some wall squats...kinda boring. If you know of anything else that would be so awesome. = )
@Quietserenity: Welcome! Thanks for joining us! That's so exciting about your confirmation and upcoming ultrasound! I have my first on the 29th, so I know how excited you must be.
@Running Elley: Thanks! I had a previous surgery that although was on my uterus really didn't impact my fertility at all. But my doctor used it to justify additional ultrasounds to my insurance, you know, just in case. She was like "If you want them..." I wasn't going to turn it down!
@trugem: Thank you! Really all I feel like doing now is walking and swimming, which I do in my apartment complex. We had a gym membership, but I figured that since I can do things at home, I didn't want to spend the money for something that I might end up feeling too crappy to use.
@Quietserenity:Oh definitely take those opportunities where you can get them, I'm sure you'll appreciate having the extra times to see your LO! I'm also really jealous that you have somewhere to swim...I need to find somewhere near me!
@His Barista: I'm trying to find something to do too. I have Gold's Gym membership and I need a letter from my doctor for them to freeze my account. My doctor doesn't want to write one because she says I need to workout. I feel like there is not much for me to do over there. I can do cardio at home.
@Quietserenity: I wish I could swim. I wonder if I can try to learn as an adult.
@trugem: I don't see why not! I mean, even in this so early stage when I just sort of feel puffy, it still feels great to be in the water. But even some days when I feel too tired to go to town in the pool, I'll go to the very deepest part and tread water for an hour or more. It's not strenuous at all, but by the end, my legs are definitely feeling it! They're more noodley after doing that than they are after a walk!
@Quietserenity: I do think I would get a better workout in the pool. I need to find a new swim suit or wear a t-shirt over the one I have. This bloat/bump does not look hott. lol I don't look pregnant, I look like I've gained a few.
@trugem:Oh I'm sure you can learn! Or even just walking around in the pool gives you more resistance because of the water and you feel lighter and it feels sooo nice in the summer weather. I know what you mean about putting something over your swimsuit...we're going camping at the beach with DH's family this weekend and I just feel so bloated I'm dreading the swimsuit situation.
@trugem: That's what OZ wanted...but they were only going to do it for 6 months. I had to explain that, no. I would be 8 months by then and too uncomfortable to go work out...and worrying about other things. They were jerks, so I figured I'd rather put that $40/mo somewhere else. I'm sure you can learn! I believe you can do it!
I'm joining too! I'm due March 28th, which makes me 4 weeks exactly. My mother is the only one that knows as of yet, I am telling DH tomorrow. I wanted to wait to tell him until I could tell him in person.
I'm not gonna lie, I am terrified of his reaction. Part of me thinks he'll handle it well, and part of me thinks he'll freak out and blame me and get really angry. I just don't know, although I'm thinking it'll be the first one. DH wants kids, he just didn't want them yet. Of course, neither did I.
@zippylef:Oh I'm sure you'll feel SO much better once he knows. Are you just going to sit him down and tell him or do you have something planned? I'm sure you probably don't want to shock him *too* badly lol.
@His Barista: That is how I feel. I can use that money to take swimming lessons.
@Running Elley: I'm thinking I'm just going to give him a little gift-bag with this positive test in it. See what happens. If I have to come out and say it, I'm going to wuss out. lol
@zippylef:Oh good luck! I can't wait to hear how it goes :)
I'm joining in ladies! I'm due March 28, 2012. I just got my BFP last night, and still is setting in. I'm exactly 4 weeks along. I haven't told anyone except for dh, I'm waiting til I'm at least 8 weeks to tell family and friends (all though I want to tell everyone I see!). No symptoms yet besides severe cramps.
HEY BEES! I wanna join. I am due March 21, 2012. I am 5 weeks today. We are so excited. I got my BFP about 9dpo. I went to the Dr. for confirmation on Monday and I actually got a sonogram. We are scheduled to come back in two weeks for another. Maybe we will see the heartbeat!
I had some pretty bad cramps for a few days a week or so ago. I also have bad indigestion at night. (It wakes me up). Is anyone else terrified of morning sickness?
Wow, I feel so behind!!
@trugem: I debated freezing my gym membership for the same reason, until it got so hot out here I realized I can only walk if it's at the gym. So I've literally just been walking at the gym. That's probably all I will do, but I try to make them long walks (like an hour). I would do more but honestly I get kind of worried pushing myself really hard and I figure walking works.
@Running Elley: I want a girl too and also feel like this baby is a girl! But it also may be wishful thinking. Part of me does want a boy as the oldest though, because that's what I grew up with, and I love it. So I would love a boy too. Also, I am hungry a lot too but nauseous mixed in with it. Sigh.
@Quietserenity: Welcome to the thread!! :) I'm jealous you have somewhere to swim too, I wish there was somewhere I could swim!! I love swimming.
@zippylef: Congratulations and welcome to the thread. Good luck telling DH. :) I am sure he will be excited. It might just take time to sink in. One of my friends once told her husband she was unexpectedly pregnant, and he passed out. He was totally bummed. But, then in a few days, he was planning the nursery. Even if he doesn't give the reaction you want, if he does want kids, just not now.. I'm sure he'll warm up to the idea.
@IHeartArtichoke: Welcome!! I love artichokes too, lol.
On that note, I just got another wave a nausea.. I cannot WAIT for this one symptom to pass. It's absolutely brutal.
@IHeartArtichoke:@missfroggy: Congratulations to you both!!! We're going to have lots of adorable babies here on the bee come spring :)
@AvantLaLettre:DH wants us to have a boy as oldest too. I used to want that very thing but SIL has 2 sons (ages 5 and 2) and I'm thinking that they can be good "older brother" type relationships for our baby if we have a girl because the whole family is very close. Anddd DH comes from a family of boys. There hasn't been a girl on either side for almost 3 generations! So I'm not so secretly hoping to produce the first girl for the family hahaha. Plus I'm really girly myself. I'd be perfectly happy to have a little boy though, it would just be a learning experience for me :)
@Running Elley: I am totally with you. I am super girly and adore little girls. Just trying to see the positive in both, because, well, they ARE both an amazing gift! It's so cliche to say "as long as it's healthy" but it's true that that's all that matters. That said, I'd be overjoyed to have a girl.
@missfroggy: Welcome!! I am terrified of MS, too. Which is a bummer because I've been incredibly nauseous almost around the clock. Even up in the middle of the night sometimes. I've yet to throw up though. I'm praying I can keep that up because I am terrifed of vomiting. I haven't since I was a little kid!
I just ordered this book: http://www.amazon.com/Managing-Morning-Sickness-Survival-Pregnant/dp/0923521828/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311206520&sr=8-1
I feel like if I don't keep checking our threads every day, I miss so much! haha.
Then I spend half an hour just catching up on posts lol ;)
Welcome to all the new members!! I had a feeling opening it up to Spring 2012 would definitely incur many more ladies :):) For those that are new, I am due February 29, though I've had a few different due dates, my other due date given was March 2, 2012 :)
anyhow, as for workouts - I've been so tired, I haven't really wanted to, and where I live has been under extreme heat warnings (yesterday we had a heat index of 119 plus humidity! ugh!!), so I haven't been able to go speed walking/jogging like I usually do.
I am a member of the Y, but I'm going to cancel the membership so we can save money, we have a wii at home and I can use that, plus there are a lot of instant play fitness and yoga videos on netflix that I watch too :) There is one called Yoga mama for prenatal yoga :) I haven't tried it yet though.
My morning sickness started this week :( along with it, I get food aversions. I find that I really want just light, fresh food. Things like yogurt, fruit, cottage cheese, crackers, etc - I don't want much meat and pasta makes me gag! So weird... But the crazy thing is I'm still hungry all the time! haha
About the gender thing - hubby and I are hoping for a girl too!! But I would be so blessed with a boy as well. My sister is almost 8 mos pregnant, and she is having a boy - so it would be an advantage to have two boy cousins the same age (we're the first ones having babies in the family).. But just like you, AvantLaLettre & Running Elley, I am SUCH a girly girl! I dream about my little girl taking ballet haha :) and decorating her room in yellow and pink <3 but of course, I'll be happy with a darling boy as well :)
We'll see! I am 8 weeks as of tomorrow and I feel like this month went so fast! Hopefully the rest of it goes quickly too :) I am so excited for week 20 when I can find out what my precious baby is.
@AvantLaLettre: I talked to a trainer at the gym and they said I can do what I have been doing. They said that I shouldn't have my heart rate go up past 140, do light weights on the machines, more reps, and use my common sense. lol I can't do as much as I used to, so my workouts are shorter for now.
@AvantLaLettre:Well we will be "Morning Sickness Buddies". We can encourage each other through it. TMI ALERT! I find that if I do NOT go #2 before bed at night, I wake up with a stomachache at like 3am...but I don't always have to go #2 before bed, so I get screwed.
I will try to keep a positive attitude though, because I know that it is worth it and all will be forgotten when I hold my sweet baby in my arms.
That book looks pretty helpful. It has many positive reviews.
@Running Elley: YES! I am STARVING all the time. No joke, I have to stop whatever it is I am doing to grab a bite. I'd rather have that than vomiting, but it is still really annoying. If I go to long without eating I feel pretty crummy and have no energy.
@missfroggy: Sounds like a plan!! How are you doing with your MS?
I am currently literally sucking on a lemon. I've never done this before. I'm intermitently sucking it vs licking it. Today I read that lemons help so I'm going straight up hardcore. I tried to go to bed and just felt awful so here I am in my nighttime spot again. I think I let myself get too hungry this afternoon and then when I did eat, it was too heavy (even though I didn't eat much, it was lasagna). Every time I look at DH, I am so jealous that he doesn't feel sick but still gets to have this baby. lol.
By the way, don't think I ever filled people in. I am exactly as far along as miss-spunkin and I will be 8 weeks tomorrow. I am due on March 1st, which is technically Feb 29 this year.
@miss-spunkin: I agree that this month went fast. Feels like we were just 5 weeks, doesn't it? I sure hope the next 4 weeks go by fast too... Not that I want to wish away the pregnancy (or summer!) but I am dying to get past this nausea and really hoping 2nd trimester brings me some relief.
@zippylef: DH was so scared when I told him, even though we had been TTC. But after a couple days he was super excited! Just know that if he's scared at first he might need time. But I think he will take it fine. = )
@IHeartArtichoke: and @missfroggy: Congrats to you both! = ) We're glad you joined us!
@miss-spunkin: I am having trouble with Pasta, too!
For those that missed it, I haven't had an ultra sound to cinfirm my due date, but I am 6 weeks and the nurse guessitmated me for March 11th. My US on the 29th will probably change the date a little. = )
wow so many more baby bees on the way!! so exciting! urgh i think the real morning sicknes has kicked in- im 7 weeks tomarrow and OMG for the last 4 days i feel like i have the WROST hangover when i get up. its horrible, i really ned to get something for the nausea, its SOO overwhelming. but i cant complain bc it gives me reassurnace that the little babe is ok. lol. Ofcoarse with wanting a healthy baby, (really thats all i want. ) bt i would love a girl. but would be thrilled with a little boy to, there such little cuties. one minute i have a strong indication its a boy but then i always pictured myself with a girl first, so in reality i have no idea what im having. i really have no intuition lol. i cant wait to find out! wish we didnt have to wait til week 20! ugrh seems to far away.
*Also i need your ladies opinions on something (dont want to sound like the crazy pregnant lady)... but when i go for my doctors appointment i will be 3 days shy of 9 weeks and my friend who went to the same OBGYN says tht she doesnt think they do ultrasounds the first appointment (she cant remember exactly, bc its been a couple years since she had her baby) but the thing is- im TERRFIED something will be wrong and was really banking on seeing the baby for the first time at the appoinment to help ease my fears and to make sure everythig is ok. I really have severe anxcitey over losing the baby. do you think if i called them and explained the situation tehy might consdier doing an ultrasound to help ease my fear?? im not expecting htem to bend the rules or anything like that but i would really love some reassurance. im trying to stay calm. Am i being unreasonable?
