I’m a little torn on this one. We’re planning a spring wedding and I feel like already people are sort of pressuring me to do something more casual than I want. I think.
Everyone’s pushing for short, flirty BM dresses in light colors, a party in the afternoon, everything being light and flowery and fun. Which sounds cool, but in my head I’ve always pictured weddings as very formal evening affairs and I sort of like that idea too. But is a formal wedding in Spring stupid?
FI’s sister had a winter wedding and it was gorgeous – very elegant, glamorous….so does this sort of thing depend on the season? Are people going to be expecting a more casual affair? Is doing elegant decor, floor length BM gowns, dark colors, etc, too much for spring?

I think you can have a formal wedding any time of the year! Do what you want to do!

No way, you can totally do a formal spring wedding. Just because it’s spring doesn’t mean everything has to be light and fluffy (which I think is a great look, but it’s not what you want). What colors are you thinking?

I’m having a formal wedding in April so I definitely think it can be done. I don’t really like pastels and definitely didn’t want an outside, garden wedding.
Check out Mrs. Turkey’s wedding on the blog. It was in the summer but she still used darker colors (typically thought to be for colder seasons). It was formal and gorgeous.

No idea what colors I want yet but we’re doing kilts as FI is Scottish, and his tartan has elements of deep blue/purple/emerald green, so I was thinking something along those lines?
