Does anyone know if any of the online photo book services offer square (8x8, 10x10, etc.) albums?  Most that I've seen seem to be rectangular.  Thanks.

additional point for clarification... I'm looking for the DIY version, where you can load the images and do your own layouts ... trying to keep it relatively inexpensive.

Blurb (www.blurb.com) does 7"x7" square...but that might be a little small, no?

Photoworks (www.photoworks.com) does 12"x12", but it only comes in hardcover leather, and it starts at $70 for only 20 pages (and when book publishers say 20 pages...it means 10 sheets of paper, printed on both sides) and it's another $2/page (meaning 1 side of that sheet of paper).

Kodak's Ofoto offers ones that aren't quite square, but are close (they're 10.25" x 9"). But you're stuck with having that picture window in the front cover, so you can't make a nice smooth printed or fabric/leather cover.

I'm waiting for my digi-negs (this week, cross your fingers for me!), so I haven't designed my album yet, but I think I'm going to use Blurb. Their quality seems to be very highly recommended (used by pro photogs) and their pricing was the most reasonable to me.

A lot of the other places structure it like Photoworks -- a starting fee that sounds reasonable until you realize that it's a pretty skimpy "book" (I'd say it's more of a pamphlet with hard covers!) and that it's $2 extra for each side of a page...that really adds up.

shutterfly has 8x8s (29.99 for 20 pages) and 12x12s (54.99 for 20 pages) and they ALWAYS have some type of coupon code floating around. I've found they are super fast at shipping, but quality isnt #1.

    Hi cwj,

The best deal I've discovered for square books is viovio.

    8.5x8.5 softcover: $4.99 base + 0.25/page

    8.5x8.5 hardcover: $14.99 + 0.25/page

They have a loyal customer base, so I think they are reputable. But their software and uploading process are not the most intuitive or user-friendly. Nevertheless, Viovio is a great, lower-cost option if you are tech-savvy.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi cwj,

    An addendum to ant's post:

Viovio.com also offers 10x10 as well.   $14.99 base + $.40 / page up to 100 pages.  By far the best deal I've found for this size. I've never used them, but I've heard good things about them.

Firsteditionoriginals.com (http://www.firsteditionoriginals.com/wedding%20albums.html) also offers 10x1, but starting at $160 for the first 60 pages, and $1 each additional page, it's a bit more pricey.

Shutterfly.com offers 12x12.  I've never used them before either, but all the digiscrappers rave about them.

Heritagemakers.com offers a 12x12, but are also pricey. (http://www.heritagemakers.com/index.cfm?event=product.storybooks).  They start at $79.95 for the first 21 pages, and $1.99 each additional (they say add up to 99, and I'm not sure if that's up to 99 additional pages, or 99 pages max).

Lulu.com offers 8.5x8.5 for reasonable price. $19.53 for 100 pages! $34.53 for 200 pages.  Can't beat that.  I do like 10x10 or bigger though.

Marathonpress.com offers 10x10 and 11x11. They are expensive, but I think they are used by professionals.  (http://www.marathonpress.com/retail-products/premiere-edition-books) Prices vary depending on what kind of binding and/or cover you want: (http://www.marathonpress.com/premiere-edition-pricing-guide)  On the site it quotes up to 100 pages, but I think that I called them once, and you can do more pages.

    Photopiaonline.com offers 10x10, but looks expensive: (http://www.photopiaonline.com/product.php/63/0)

Those are the most reasonable priced sites I've found on my search.

I used Blurb's 13x11 for my wedding album because it was the most economical.  Although I liked it, some of the the pages did start coming out.  I did have 200 pages, though.  It might hold up better if you have less pages. I recently just ordered a smaller book (8x10) from them and noticed it came from a different publisher/printer, and the binding looked more durable, so maybe enough people complained?

    Good luck!
