I lived in St. John’s almost my entire life (have lived away almost 2 years now) so I’m getting married there. I know the place well enough to plan a wedding from long distance, but it would be nice to know who/where you’ve booked for your weddings! I’m especially curious about where you plan to get your hair done, because I have no idea on that front!
Here’s what I’ve got:
- Ceremony/Reception – CLB Armoury (also covers catering)
- Cake – My Aunt
- Dress – From The Bridal Salon on Water Street
- Photography – Jennifer Dawe
- Bridesmaid or Best Man Dresses – from eBay
- Veil – eBay
- DJ – friend of Maid/Matron of Honor
I have a few leads on some transportation but I’m still really unsure about what do here. I haven’t decided how everyone will get to the venue and what I will rent to get around for pictures after the ceremony.
Now, how about you?!

I’m in St. John’s! Getting married in Florida, though.. so sorry I don’t have anything to offer with regards to whom I’ve booked. If you need any suggestions though, I have plenty of friends who’ve married here and can ask around for details, etc. As far as hair goes, there are plenty of great salons around the city now, it shouldn’t be hard to pin down one great stylist!

@rockdr: Yeah, that’d be great! I know there are lots of salons, but I have gone to the same lady my whole life but I can’t mine or my BM’s hair done with just her so I’m looking for recommendations on salons mostly. Without spending a ton of money either! 🙂

For transportation, I just came across something I never did before whenook for transportation. It’s MyChauffeur.ca. They have two classic cars available, a 1938 Chevy and a Pontiac, but I can’t remember the year. I did a few searches for cars like these to rent and never found a thing! So I wanted to make sure all the St. John’s/NL brides knew!

Thanks for the vintage car recommendation! I am also getting married at the CLB this August, and I am also living outside of St. John’s right now, and I’ve had the hardest time finding a nice transportation option for JUST between the ceremony and reception. All of the limo services said their packages were a 4 hour minimum.
I’ve contacted them and am hoping for the best. Good luck with your planning 🙂

@narenaud: Oh that’s great! That 4 hour minimum thing really annoyed me. I still ended up with a four hour minimum (but I’m using the Party Bus) but I’m ok with it now, we’re gonna make it work!
