I can't wait to see this because I soooo do not know yet.  I originally thought of having it at the City Museum.  But then I saw the venue for Coronado and thought that was just absolutely beautiful....expensive, but beautiful!  But now, I finally know what my wedding theme is and am trying to find a lodge like feel.  where are you getting married?

I totally saw that place too and thought it looked really beautiful but unfortunately they didn't really post any good pics of their sites.

@Wendy, no they don't! All their pictures are OH so cheesy. If anybody is interested, I have some real photos that don't look so 80's fabulous, lol.

It's really a nice place once you visit. The banquet hall is a little dated but honestly, I felt like EVERY banquet hall in Stl was like that unless it was $80/plate and up

@LindsMarie, we really liked the Demenil Mansion. The guy was really nice about everything and the food was to die for.

    Hi Gateway Girls!

I'm getting married at St. Anthony of Padua; reception at the Forest Park Golfcourse Clubhouse!

I'm thinking our local board isn't too active because of www.stlwed.com (a lot like WB, but all are local)

@ stlginko: I just learned about the Edge of Webster when I was researching a place for my shower. I thought, did this just open up or something?  I wish I had known about it earlier in my planning. It's such a neat place that not too many people know about!

Yes I did look at them.  The pictures they have look really nice, but I've been turned off by what a couple of my friends told me when they went to a wedding there.  First off, You have to provide everything there.  Second off, you have to have the place cleaned up by 11pm!!! So that means party ends at 10pm.  Third off, the decorations I want they wont allow since it's open flame and lanterns being suspended from the cieling.  but thanks though!

Well, i was looking at the City Museum.  Prices are not too bad there, just the catering is really expensive!  I actually called Hidden Valley, thought that would be a great idea! Esp since I can't garauntee that I will have snow in feb.  Unfortunately they do not have any ball rooms or banquet halls there to hold a wedding.  Still looking....

Wendy: This might be helpful when shopping around for a reception site:

    http://www.projectwedding.com/vendor/search/st_louis/reception

This isn't lodge-y, but antother place to look into is the Sheldon Concert Hall.  It's beautiful, not sure about $ though.  I found out about it after I booked mine, but this would be my first choice, based on appearance.

There's also a venue called Oliva, that is beautiful too.  It looks like a private house.  What about the Rialto, if you like the Coronado?

There's another lodgey place that I've seen on my photog's blog, but I cant think of it!! Let me do some research!

    @ silly rae:

Thanks, I'm glad you like the golfclub.  I actually had some second thoughts about it after we booked bc of it's size. But, we're keeping the guest list pretty limited, which will help out!

The Visitor's center is beautiful! I've seen a handful of reception photos there and it always blows my mind!

    Hi everyone,

So happy to find St. Louis bees. Wedding date Oct. 17, 2010 My ceremony will be at Temple Shaare Emeth but the reception will be at Windows on Washington. I was really luck, got a great deal on Windows, when I reserved the location it was their 15th anniversary and they took off the room rental fee.

@silly rae: the Jewel Box is beautiful.

Thanks Jennybirdy.  Funny that you're telling me about the Sheldon because I was actually looking at that today.  I think that might be my second choice.  I just really like the fact that the price includes the ceremony also!

Has anyone by chance heard anything about Orlandos Lodge?  Looks like it could be okay, though not loving all the stuffed bears and deer.

@Jenny: my sister actually found the place because my BIL works in one of the businesses in the same complex. My FI fell in love with it because of the exposed ceiling and giant windows.

@Wendy: my sister had her reception at teh Sheldon. B.E.A.utiful!

    @STLGINKO

Do you know at the Sheldon....are they strict about the decor?  Not sure, but will they allow you to either suspend lights on the cieling and/or have candles?

That seems to be the problem I'm having

@stlginko: The site is kind of poorly constructed, and ugly honestly.  On the home page, if you want to chat/make posts click on Community Chat, then General Wedding Talk.  Making comments/new posts is kind of similar to WB.

Also Vendor Directory is just the listing of various wedding related categories that are on the main page listed (in a kind of paragraph style) under where it says "Welcome to Stlwed.com".  You can click on each link to get lists of the vendors of each category.  These are usually links to the vendors' webpages.

I think there's some rule where you have to sign up and make a few posts before you can view the vendor reviews, so you may be running into that problem.

Let me know if you have any questions about it bc I remember being confusing at first.

It's a really good site for connecting to St. Louis brides--those that are planning and married already.  The married girls stay in contact by chatting in the "Life Goes on" section.  They often have get togethers but I have yet to go to one!

@wendy: I went to a bridal shower at the Grant's Trail logde.  It's been a while, but from what I remember, I think it's kind of small for a reception.  Maybe better suited for a smaller gathering, like a rehersal dinner or shower.  It's very lodgey--there were lots of deer antlers in the main room.  I think the chandeliers are made of them and I think the mantel had those German stein containers on it.  (That's all I remember!)

A great barn/lodge-y location is the Cedar Lake Farm (http://www.cedarlakefarm.net)

Our ceremony is at the Jewel Box and reception is on the 8th floor of Windows on Washington.

Alright, let me ask you guys something.  I was talking to my mom (which has a lot of influence over me) and she isn't really digging my winter wedding in feb.  Now my second runner up month would be in April.  Do guys know if weddings in general are way more expensive than in the winter months?

@wendy: my sister is planning her wedding for June and the price difference is insane! WAY cheaper to get married on an off month!

@edoherty: don't you just love how "perfectly sized" St. Joseph's is? not too big not too small, perfectly sized to make it feel "full" :)

it's just across the river and BEAUTIFUL....not to mention the $ is right.

ALSO another great one is always Chimney Rock Guest House in Imperial (I think) Missouri.  Anyone look or been there? It looks beautiful and might be what you're looking for here in STL

haven't set a date yet,  but we're getting married probably in May of next year (actually trying to convince the boy to come home with me next month to talk to our priest so we can finally set a date and start planning!)

The ceremony will be at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church.

We haven't found a reception hall yet.  We're looking for some place less than 1/2 hour from SMOS (his family will be driving 3 hours that morning or the day before to get there so we don't want to make them add ANOTHER hour to that back and forth).  Also, bringing in our own caterer and alcohol would be a HUGE plus.  We're planning on getting food from Noodles and Co cuz they're likeomgamazing.  It seems that there are a number of places that will let you bring your own food but you still need to get your booze from them.  Anyways...if any of you ladies know any places that fulfill those criteria and fit 150 people I'd sure love to hear from you :) We're looking at KoC (too far--maybe too small), Edge of Webster (have to buy their booze), and some others.

Wow...sorry for the long post.  I'm happy to see so many other StL brides!  I had no idea!! :)
