My fiance and I are having our ceremony in St. Paul, MN at the Chapel of St Thomas Aquinas. Our reception is downtown Minneapolis.
We plan to take our “first look” photos along Mississippi River Blvd. Are there any brides out there that have taken outdoor photos in St Paul? Como Park may be too far away (time wise, not distance) from St. Thomas. We prefer a location near campus/the church that way we can keep our day on track and maximize time. Our engagement photos are being taken at Minnehaha Park and although I prefer not to, we may go back there for wedding photos too since it offers more unique backdrops (bridges, waterfalls, etc).
Has anyone ever taken fun wedding pics on Grand Ave? We plan to take a few shots at the Chapel/on university campus but not too many since we prefer nature backdrops vs modern architecture.
Any ideas? Also, have any other MN summer brides had backup indoor locations for photos? If so, where?

@Elizabeth_05: My wedding is in Hudson but im from St Paul area. I like the idea of pictures on Grand! What about Rice Park in St paul? Otherwise by the high bridge there is a little park with water fountains, super pretty in the summer.

@Elizabeth_05: Maybe by the Stone Arch Bridge, that would work well inbetween both Cities. Along that lines how about Mill City Museum? We had our son’s 2 year pictures taken there. Or Rice Park in St Paul.

If you want natural, head on over the South campus of St. Thomas–they have The Grotto.
The Shadow Falls Overlook is right there too.
There are some regional parks along the river very close to campus, Hidden Falls and Crosby Farm Park.

I know it won’t be helpful but I went to St. Thomas for my BA! Yay! Beautiful campus and chapel. Congrats!
