Take the ferry to St. John and have bbq for dinner at Uncle Joe's BBQ in town kind of near the docks. It's the best bbq ever. Amazing, amazing.

As runningbee suggested, definitely take the ferry to St John. Also make sure you go the center of town on St Thomas (I can't remember the name of the street) If you love jewelry it is THE BEST jewelry shopping in the world. It's pretty amazing.

Thanks for the input! I had seen good things about St. John and definitely plan to make that an excursion one day. Anything else you recommend, or don't recommend?
I don't recommend going off the beaten path in the Charlotte Amelie. Some parts of the city are pretty shady. I also HIGHLY recommend St. John, Trunk Bay in particular.
FI and I went to St. Thomas almost 2 yrs ago and took a tour with Sunny Liston, who was amazing! He and his wife were great at communicating when they'd pick us up (from our cruise ship), they were on time and extremely friendly. Here's a link:

Magen's Bay was beautiful. We took a day tour island hopping to 3 or 4 different islands which was a lot of fun as well.
I spent a week in St. Thomas about 3 years ago and loved it! I definitely agree with taking the ferry to St. John and exploring Trunk Bay. It was beautiful and so fun! Shopping in Charlotte Amelie was also fun. One of my favorite things we did while in St. Thomas was taking a day cruise to the British Islands. Definitely go to Virgin Gorda and explore The Baths! It's a must! I'm not sure where you'll be staying, but I stayed in a condo at Cowpet Bay which is right next door to the Ritz Carlton. As far as beaches go, I loved the Ritz's. The staff is totally cool with you hanging out there, even when you are not a guest! It was quiet and not really that crowded!
I don't know what you plan on doing for transportation, but I really wish we would have rented a car. It is illegal to walk on the side of the roads in St. Thomas, so you have to take a taxi everywhere. All the money we spent on taxis in the first two days of the trip would have more than paid for a rental car....just a thought :) Have fun and good luck!

Have any of you spent any time in St. Thomas? My fiance and I are going there in August for our honeymoon and I would love any suggestions you may have on the "must do" or "must see" things on the island. Input please!
