I’m getting married next summer and would like to book a venue for our stag and doe, but I’m scared with all the new laws/reforms/crack-downs about making a profit on booze and no games of chance (which are practically ALL the games typically played!) that we won’t be able to have one. And FYI, all of our friends and family have them.
Anyone have any experience with stag and does this year? Any worries? Is it worth the risk?
Bah. I told hubby-to-be that we should’ve gotten married years ago and we wouldn’t have this issue!! lol Urgh!!

@HotnHollerin: If you get a lottery licence, you can have raffles. Is yours the type where you sell tickets to enter? The ones I went to in Thunder Bay, seemed like the deal was that the couple got your $5 entry, and proceeds of the raffles, and the hall got the liquor sales. So, you wouldn’t be profiting from the booze – the licenced purveyor would be.

The downside is that most halls don’t have a liquor licence – we provide that AND booze is where you make most of your money. I’m bummed about it as it’s now our turn but we won’t be able to 🙁
