I have talked to soo many ppl who have no idea what this is?? Where I’m from it’s a must have (northwestern PA) it’s a hugeee party a couple months before the wedding usually sell tickets for 5-10$ free food and beer music etc 50/50 tickets Chinese auction tip boards gambling raffles it’s basically a huge party to raise money for the bride and groom you don’t even have to know the people to go if its really big you give tix to the wedding party and anyone else you trust to sell and get many people you can to come and they usually last like 4-6 hours they are a blast and I can’t believe so many people have never heard of it, it mustme a regional thing?

I am from Ontario and they are fairly common here. They are called Stag and Does here!
I personally do not agree with fundraising for a wedding and I believe that if you can’t afford it you shouldn’t have it! Because I don’t agree with them I typically do not attend them. I have only attended one and I only attended because I was in the wedding party!

I mean if your relying on the stag to pay for your wedding that’s ridiculous since you pretty much have it a month or so before the wedding it’s more like a lot of fun for everyone food beer and music games mall games of chance it’s not meant to pay or the wedding just kinda meant to help a little after all of what you spent for the wedding idk everyone I’ve ever known to get married around here has them and not only are they fun but I BELIEVE it is a good cause and a whole lot of fun to boot I just thought it was weird hardly anyone has heard of them, but then again being from Erie there are a lot of things people have never heard of I.e. Greek sauce, ox roast, etc etc

I never heard of them until I joined the Bee.

Im from Ontario too. I’ve heard them called “Jack and Jill” “Stag and Doe” and “Buck and Doe”. I’ve been to quite a few of them. Some bride and grooms hated them because their wedding party didn’t help and it ended up being a lot of work to get not that much money. And I have known some that are held on Halloween and the bride and groom make a TON of money, because LOTS of people like to go out and have fun on Halloween.
We didn’t choose to have one because we frankly didn’t want to put the effort into planning another party..lol
I’m not opposed to attending them though, since they are usually lots of fun and often there are great door prizes and games.
