I'm finding myself checking my (2) registries daily (if not several times a day).  I think it's a bad idea, but I just find myself drawn to the sites....

even worse- amazon.co.uk has an option where you can see WHO gave you what gift.  thus far, I have managed to stay away from that option, but it's calling me.

are you'all drawn to check up on your registries?  do you think it's a good idea or bad?

I didn't need to check mine, my mother did it for me. She was obsessed with checking them. She would call me up every time something on it changed and ask had I noticed and who had bought it, etc. It was sort of annoying at the time but now to think of it it was funny :)

This is too funny! I check the ones for showers I am going to, just to see how lucky the bride is!

I usually stalk them around important dates....showers, etc. The wedding is in 23 days, so I'll more than likely return to "stalker mode" here in 2 weeks or so. =)

do you think it ruins the surprise of recieving a gift?  or does having a registry do that in and of itself?

i had a "hunch" that someone was throwing me a surprise shower this weekend (i live in the UK- and hence there aren't a lot of open dates).  but it's been 100% confirmed by the number of items being purchased off the registries in the last week.

I love being surprised so I COMPLETELY stay away from my registry leading up to major events. I just had my shower this past weekend, so I stopped looking at my registry online about 3 weeks prior. Two weekends ago my FI wanted to update one of our registries when we were at the mall. After we scanned everything, I made him upload it to their computer so that there was NO CHANCE that I would see what had been purchased.

My shower isn't till April.  Right now I go on there and update/change stuff.  But I think I'm going to stop going on there in the next week or two, when invites go out.... or at least I hope I will.  I want the gifts I get to be a surprise *or WHICH* one's I get to be a surpise!!  This being said, curiousity often gets the best of me!

I am also a registry stalker. I have a shower this weekend and I admit I've checked them today. I need to stop because I do like being surprised!

I'm a registry adder and second guesser.  I can't work in the UK so I have way to much free time to read up on blender reviews and slow cooker reviews and what not. Too much free time is dangerous

I definitely change mine randomly because I second guess my choices.  However, this has resulted in a larger than necessary registry.  I actually was super-excited when I checked one day and saw that my super-huge, uber-expensive (on there for the completion discount) pots and pan set showed that it had been purchased.  After some detective work, I discovered that someone bought off the wrong registry.  How lucky is the random bride who is getting my pots and pans!  :)

I have also realized our registry is growing because I second guess and find new stuff!

Ahh, se I'm a "deleter" I think things like "oh, well we'll be back in the US, so we'll probably have towels, and I don't even know what color the bathroom is?!?!" So then I delete the towels because I am crazy and have too much free time.... Stalking your own Registry : wedding Icon Eek

CPT - did they change it for you? So it doesn't look like they've been purchased off your registry?

Once my mom sends out my shower invites I plan on checking up on things. I have 2 registries and plan on deleting items off the other registry if bought on one. This way I don't end up with doubles. Less returns = less stress. I'm not as interested in finding out who bought what. I just hate standing in long lines to return things!

You girls are too funny! We just went to a Crate & Barrel this past Sunday for their registry event and I came home and have been updating and deleting for the past 3 days! I thought I was insane-but I'm glad to see I'm not alone!

not-so much of a "surprise" shower is this weekend... and I made a vow to myself this morning that I will NOT check either registry until it's all over.

but....I am glad that I have stalked it over the last few days... focused my attention to putting on those last minute things I had completely forgotten about (like luggage, and pots, and towels) (I live in the UK- and was torn by Macys vs Amazon.co.uk) (In the end I registered for soft, non-breakable things at Macys (except for 2 place settings at my mother's insistance) and dishes, glass, etc at Amazon.co.uk)

I will not look... I will not look... I will not look....

Ha!  I just read this post after checking both of my registries.  The way I see it is that I want to make sure that I registered for enough items and I may want to add something.  I still have two weeks until the wedding and most items are already purchased, so I actually had to add some stuff.

I'm keeping a second list of stuff and adding it after the stuff we really want is bought! Cause there is stuff we are like wow that cool, but do we really need it? so I kept a word doc on my computer of wants and needs so when the needs are bought, I add the wants! lol its soo bad and addicting! I definitely did that!  It's not much of a suprise on what you are getting since you picked it out! but the suprise is who its from and so often hindsight leads you to why that particular couple bought you that item.  I think its fun!

Guilty as charged with the stalking of registries. The challenge is I can see who bought what on two of them and I always laugh at the disclaimer that you can act surprised when you get it.

SpaceC06 - I would agree, by looking at the registry you can't tell who bought what on most of them so it will still be a surprise in that aspect!

i LOVE registry stalking! I thought I was the only one! I constantly second guess/add/delete/edit my registries even though the showers are not for another 4 months! I really would like to have the discipline to stop looking at it eventually (and stop changing things!) but at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I stop EVER. I'm also a fan of stakling other bride-to-be's registries that I know so that I can get ideas!! I have a PROBLEM!

Oh, I keep checking. My shower is exactly a month away, so the invites just went out for that. I keep changing my mind, and adding things and removing things, so we'll see what happens!!

I'm trying REALLY hard not to look at it. We have our first shower this weekend & another one in a couple of weeks. It is so tempting. I did see a couple gifts because we had to update some stuff, and the first 2 items said FULFILLED in bold caps. Does it count as cheating if I didn't MEAN to see it? That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My shower is not until April 26th and we just finished our registry this past weekend...I am already stalking it even though I KNOW no one will buy anything until the invites go out the end of this month :)  I keep checking to make sure that nothing is being discontinued, if its on sale, and just to look at the stuff we picked and hope we get it :)

I stalk all 3 of my registires daily. My shower isn't even until May, no one has any reason to be buying gifts this early, but I do it nonetheless. This past weekend the very first item was purchased-and it was my KitchenAid stand mixer- I squealed and almost had a heart attack. Now I must patiently await its arrival...
