When I sent my invites the RSVP stamp cost me 66 cents, which I was surprised by because it wasn’t big or bulky but instead the USPS worker told me it was because it was too small. It was only 3 1/2 x 5. I bought a pack of Thank You cards yesterday since my first shower is Saturday. Came home and lo and behold they are 3 1/2 x 5! I looked it up on USPS.com and it says they should be 46 cents, that anything smaller than 3 1/2 x 5 is 66 cents. I’m tempted to take them back for bigger ones because 66 cent stamps suck. Especially when I might have to send around 150-200ish of them.
Has anyone sent a 3 1/2 x 5 successfully with a 46 cent stamp?

Hmmm that’s strange. I always use this http://weddingstamps.us/postage-calculator to calculate strange sizes and haven’t had problems so far.
This http://postcalc.usps.com/LetterProperties.aspx?m=1&p=0&o=1&dz=53227&oz=44278&pob=0&MailingDate=5/10/2013&MailingTime=8:00%20AM also says that a 3.5″ x 5″ should be fine. I think the USPS worker might have made a mistake if your RSVPs were actually this size and not smaller.
ETA: the last one says smaller items are not even mailable so I’m not sure why USPS charged you extra for the RSVPs…

@MrsBeck: Hmm. I might have to go in and ask them about that. 66 vs 46 cents for 165 RSVPs is a big difference.

This almost happened to me. I was sending out my save the dates and the woman at the counter asked if they were for my wedding. I smiled and said yes, so she automatically gave me the wedding stamps… which are 66 cents. The regular forever stamps are much less, I think 48 cents or something. Make sure they’re not taking advantage just cause it’s your wedding! There are some really pretty forever stamps available.
