Berricle ALL THE WAY. They’re 925 silver so they don’t tarnish, and the stones look really nice. They’re super affordable ($25-$70) and I think there’s even a 25% off sale right now.

Some online vintage/antique/estate stores have some pretty things for not much?

I’d just get a tungsten band on overstock, $40-$50.

missjz:  I purchased a really simple diamond band from Blue Nile for my stand-in. It is really dainty and something that should weather the years quite well. Cost around $600. I know it’s more than you were thinking BUT if you would wear the ring often, why not?

I just bought this set from Berricle on Monday and I am now selling it for half price on ebay.  Its a size 7. The only reason I am selling it is because I like the finger coverage I get from my three stone.

missjz: Lots of people swear by Berricle, though it didn’t fit my criteria when I shopped for a stand-in.

I went with a jeweler on Etsy who had amazing prices, quality workmanship, etc. that was 25% of what I expected to pay, based on comparables. I have size 4 fingers so I’m really happy I went custom. It was shockingly less than a stock setting.

Happy to share more details on how I hacked my stand-in if you’re interested.

missjz:  Ah yeah, that’s tricky. I’m a size 4.75 so it’s a bit easier, I can pull off a 5. Good luck!

I wear a tiny hammered 1.3 mm 14K rose gold band from Catbird when I don’t want to wear my engagement ring (if I am going to a really sweaty exercise class or the beach).  It comes in a size 3.5 for $64.oo! It was more like $80 for my size (6) but that’s an amount I feel comfortable spending on a stand in ring!  (also in yellow gold and silver).

Is it possible to get something and have a local jeweler re-size it for you?

missjz:  This cushion cut white sapphire is $50 at Kay jewelers. The center stone is about a carat.

i bought a CZ on ebay for literally $10.99… and I actually had TWO people comment on it the day we were the beach! lol

I didn’t want anything that cost hardly anything since it will solely be for those risky times I dont want to wear my e-ring and that’s the only finger that is a size 5. It’s really pretty in person! This pic doesnt do it justice, but apparently I deleted the others I took of it where it was sparkling!
