I just found out that the fiance is taking my e-ring in to the jewelers next week to get the wedding band made! I’m so excited but also a little sad to be without it for possibly two weeks. The FI suggested getting a “stand-in.” Has anyone else worn a stand-in ring while their ring was at the jewelers? I was thinking possibly picking up a cheap-o one from Claire’s or something but is that too lame?

I would do it! I’m actually considering doing this when we send my ring in to be resized.

I have a stand in, but I dont wear it around FI because he hates it, hahaha. I got it from JC Penny’s. It looks legit!

it depends on the situation. my stand-in has a big CZ in it. when I went shopping, or when I went to vegas, I rocked that stand-in proudly.
but I have a lot of friends who are kind of poor, and I didn’t want them to see my stand-in and assume that I had gotten a new diamond. so around them, I wore just my wedding band.

I just got my stand in ring yesterday. I didn’t have such an idea until I saw some post on here. My ring wasn’t in the store it’s just there are some places I’m not comfortable wearing my real ring. My DH saw that yesterday and say it look quite good as a decoy. I told him wait until I compare to my real one, he just laugh. Yea right. It’s totally funny.

I had a problem with one of the baguettes in my ring, and the jeweler had to send it to NYC twice. I was without my ring for two separate time periods, one of which was for about six weeks, I think. I wore a stand-in the entire time, and not a single person noticed. Once my actual ring was back, I mentioned to two of my co-workers that I had done this, and one said, “Get OUT! Really? I had NO idea!!” My coworkers then wanted to see the stand-in ring, so I brought it to work the next day and showed it to them next to my real ring (which, by the way, definitely sparkles more.) So, as long as you find something that is similar in style, it’s unlikely that people will even notice.

I just wear my plain white gold wedding band I had when we got married (before I upgraded my band to a diamond one!)
