GORGEOUS Ring.  And what a great buy / price.

I like all kinds of jewellery including great pieces of Costume Jewellery…

Just cannot say I am a fan of the “stand in” concept… don’t really GET IT (sorry)

I just use my plain WBand when I am in a situation where I want to protect my “Sparklies”

I don’t understand the “stand in” concept either.

Very nice!

Watch out for the dreaded “green finger” if you wear it more frequently/get it wet!

@ceebree:  Beautiful! 🙂

The day after he proposed, because the sterling silver Dragon ring he proposed with doesn’t really fit on my ring finger, we went to Macy’s and found a stand-in for $15 on sale from $20. I wore it every day for almost 3 months until I got my e-ring, and I tried to be careful with it, but after a month it started turning my finger green! I put clear nail polish on it every couple days, and that helped.

I still have it somewhere, but it’s not very pretty lol. I would guess the piece of clear plastic was equivalent to about 3cts.

@ceebree:  Awesome!! I LOVE the idea of a stand-in. I plan on getting a couple off them! (Good excuse to buy more bling) I definitely want a Moissy stand-in, and I’m looking at Russian Brilliant stones as well.

The only time I am buying a cheap stand in band is for my honeymoon. I do not plan on taking my rings with me. And I don’t want to wear just my wedding band because it is covered 3/4 with diamonds. If it was a plain band, I would wear just that for the honeymoon and forgo a fake one.

@Future_Mrs_Dr_I:  Great idea, I’m planning to get a moissanite stand in ring too, once the patent expires in 2015.

@ceebree:  JCPenny, nice choice, don’t blame you wanting to protect your ering.However think your moissanite center jewel would probably be ok in the sand and sea– don’t know how the metal you have it set in, (was it palladium? or silver? ) would fare. Probably fine, but new bling is always welcome.Smile

@gemgirl6:  No matter what center stone someone has, it can always fall off in the water.

I have a stand-in I got from Berricle.com, and I love it.  I wear it to the beach, travelling internationally, and to the gym.  Basically any situation where there is potential to damage my ering & wedding band.

My ering & wedding band are insured, but I just don’t want to take the chance, and they have sentimental value to me.  The set I got from Berricle was $30, and I really don’t care if they get swept off my finger in the ocean or get banged from a weight at the gym or get snagged on my golf glove on the golf course.  I hate going without a ring on my finger – i feel very naked without one.

For $12, you probably could afford to replace it every year or two, so I wouldn’t worry so much about long-term wear!
