I’ve received a lot off our registry already but they’ve all been engagement gift – we’ve been getting stuff for months. Are you sure they aren’t engagement gifts, not wedding gifts?

We got some checks early. People said to use it toward the wedding if we needed to. And they actually gave another check the day of!

Yes, send the thank yous out.

I bought a set of Thank Yous specifically for gifts received before the wedding (red cards with a Chinese Phoenix on them)

@FutureMrsWeston:  That is awesome! And technically, according to etiquette, you should send thank you’s to the sender of the gifts within 2 weeks of receiving them (if it’s sent before the wedding). After the wedding, I believe you have up to 3 months.

ETA: Don’t forget to start a list of who sent what, and mark down which ones you’ve sent TY notes for. 🙂

Wow, that’s early! We didn’t get anything that early, although we didn’t register until the invitations were ready to go out.

Keep in mind that if you registered for things that go as a set but then are sold separately, you’ll want to keep a close eye out on your registry. We had some friends that registered for things that are meant to be a set, but unfortunately, people gifted parts of it but the rest went to clearance so they didn’t get the whole set fulfilled. With this is mind, you may want to purchase some things yourself if no one is buying it yet and it’s being clearanced out, unless you weren’t attached to all the pieces.

Wow, that must have been a great sale! Make sure to send your thank you notes out right away. You’ll be glad when you have a hundred to write!

Wow, that is early! We started getting gifts once we sent out the invites.

Yes, write the thank yous right away. And keep a spreadsheet of what you received from whom when and the date you sent a thank you, because you could forget!

That’s so cool! Get your TY notes out early!

Our wedding is in May, and we still haven’t gotten anything!

We received a Kitchenaid pot and pan set from my bff/MOH and a sheet set from my friend who isn’t going to be able to make it to the wedding. To the friend who isn’t going to be at the wedding we are going to go ahead and send a thank you early to, but to my bff I’ll just send it after the wedding or give it to her there. besides, she said she isn’t done buying things yet LOL

I asked my college roommate the same question about early thank you notes. Her suggestion was to go ahead and send them so you don’t get overwhelmed and forget some. I just sent our first one today.

@Sweet_Tea:  I never would have thought to mark down a list of who I sent thank you notes to. Thanks for that tip!

I seriously think not one person has even looked at my registry. Wedding in 4.5 months.

@Tandysha:  No problem! Wouldn’t be a bad idea to have any MoH or BMaid write down gifts during any bridal showers, too. 🙂
