The dress is very pretty on you! The only thing that bothers me is that there is something off about the straps in the front of the dress to me. I think they look wider than the model's picture.
It's a gorgeous dress! And you look gorgeous in it!
You should just delete the designer's picture from your mind. The model is probably 7 feet tall, super thin, well-lit, has all kind of clamps on the back making her dress fit perfectly, and then airbrushed on top of it.
I love it!! but I agree with the straps...they look loose/big...can you get them trimmed down/altered? But it does look very pretty on you :)
Wow, MsTerrapin! I really love that dress! You look so happy and pretty and just like a bride!!! If you choose to wear a necklace, I'd keep it pretty light...you don't want to overwhelm the beautiful detailing of your dress!
@missAsB-- The straps and bust were too big on the dress, but have been taken in so that they fit better now
@lindsay and Prncss-- thanks!
You look lovely-- honestly! There's nothing to dislike about it! :)
I love the dress on you - definitely elegant! I think some drop earrings and a light necklace would go well with the dress too.
You look lovely! And happy :) You should set up a photoshoot like that model with a fan and some lighting and have fun in your dress :-)
Your train is Gorgosity. I love it! Honestly it's stunning and unique, I think you'd be making a mistake by getting another dress.
Gorgeous! I love the train! I think it's anything BUT unsophisticated and unflattering! The dress is beautiful on you but what really sets it off is how happy you look in it. You're going to be glowing so much you could rock a flour sack if you wanted to. :-)
seriously, it's great. the dress is great, it look great on you... all is well! I agree that you would be making a mistake in a different dress, this one is perfect! And I vote yes for small earrings, and no to a necklace, but YES to a pearl bracelet!
I love the simplicity of the sillouette! Also the accents of lace really add some elegance without overstating it. The straps are TO DIE FOR and I really wanted a dress with straps like that!! (I never could find one!)
If it helps, I had second thoughts about my dress too. I think that when you first pick the dress you are just SO excited, and then that fades and you begin to wonder if another dress would be better. It's like crack, the first hit is the best, LOL. Trust in yourself and know that you made the right decision. You are going to look so beautiful on your wedding day and you won't regret your choice for a moment!!
That dress is definitely simple and elegant!! Looks great on you!
I LOVE the dress! I reminds me a lot of my own :o) I think the top is really gorgous and adds just enough so that the skirt of the dress can be elegant and beautiful the way it is!
oh my, well you have come to the right place... i love the lace and the chiffon, and that train, i might actually kill for... don't tell anyone(i'm a secret lace lover)
I lurve it! I have a dress with delicate straps as well – show them off. CANCEL THE DESIGNERS PICTURE STAT. Your dress is elegant, and looks stunning on you. The top opens up your chest and not to mention in the pictures above you have a glowing ear to ear smile, YAY
My suggestions:
VOILA....
I think it looks just beautiful! You're going to be a beautiful bride (and we're almost date twins, woohoo!).
I agree because of the lace straps I would probably vote no necklace unless it was something VERY simple and almost un-noticable.
I do think you could do a very sophsticated up-do (maybe like the models?) and put some gorgeous dangle/chandelier earings with this to "glam" it up some.
I think you look great! That is a timeless dress, it will still be in style 20 years down the road. You look wonderful in it! :)
I actually love this dress! I might be a little biase though because it's alot like mine!! I think the veil may be a little off or something. Maybe a veil that isn't quite as poofy would give you the elegance your going for.. I love the dress on you!
Thanks for all the love and positivity, everyone! Like many of your said, I think that initial high of loving it back in January had worn off, and I keep seeing folks with deep V neck dresses that look so pretty (which is what I initially thought I wanted).
@caszos- I have my veil now, which is a really simple and non-poufy finger length (the one in the initial picture was too short and poufy for me too!).
i really like it, it looks very floaty and classic, kind of grace kelley.
I think it looks beautiful on you!! Don't doubt it - it's an amazing dress!!
Ohmigosh, it's GORGEOUS!!! It's exactly the kind of dress I go for, so I can 100% truthfully state that I love it (and am almost a little bit jealous!!!!)
Aww, thanks everyone! I'm glad everyone likes it so much-- I am rapidly falling back in love with it. :)
So, based on some feedback I have seen in the comments and my ideas, here is what I am thinking for my ensamble:
-Gold Nina "Culver" shoes (already purchased)
- Hair in a loose, low updo with blue hydrangea flower hair pins and single layer finger length veil
-Dangly gold earrings of some kind (TBD)
-I wear my Mom's wedding band on a chain around my neck every day (sentimental way to remember my mom, plus her wedding band is awesome (gold, square shape, with really cool pattern), and I think I am going to wear that to have a piece of her with me, but keep it delicate.
I think the dress is gorgeous :) It fits you very very well but I do agree that the straps look a little large? maybe it is the angle or the fact that the hanger string is also showing? not sure but it is absolutly a LOVELY dress!!
It looks gorgeous on you. Stunning..breathtaking.
Keep the dress, you look awesome.
I think that gown was MADE for YOU! You look absolutely glowing. Skip looking at the Barbie model. You are a REAL woman that Rocks that gown!!! I vote for dangling earrings, not sure about a necklace unless it was simple, maybe? Are you going to do your gorgeous hair part up & down like someone else suggested?
Thank you everyone for your support! I'm picking up the dress after the final alterations tomorrow or Friday, so I'll have to post some new pictures of it after alterations.
I've picked out my dangly earrings (Eliot Danori at Macy's) and decided to forgo a necklace.
@rlsulli-- I still think I am going to do my hair in a loose/romantic updo. I don't want to do it down because it is going to be HOT and I will be doing a lot of dancing and my hair gets stringy and gross when exposed to heat and sweat... not cute!

Hey Bees,
So, after my second fitting, the more I look at my dress, the more it looks unsophisticated and unflattering to me, rather than simple and elegant. I don't have the time or money in the budget to get a new dress, and it's not like I hate it. I'm just second guessing myself... Since there's nothing I can do to change it, I am hoping that some patented Hive positivity will knock me back to being in love with my dress. Thanks, Hive! (Also, if anyone has any thoughts about whether I should do just earrings or both a necklace and earrings, I's love to hear thoughts or suggestions)
Here are some pictures of my Pronovias Gabon (taken pre-fittings):
