Yesterday a mutual friend made her engagement Facebook-official and we’re absolutely thrilled for her, of course. When SO got home this conversation happened:
SO: I assume you saw B’s post?
Me: Of course, and I know you did since it sent me the message you posted after I did.
SO: I’ll have to hurry up so we can get ours in.
Me: I didn’t say that!
SO: No, I did!
Which of course made me quite happy–I mean, who here on the waiting board doesn’t wish for sooner rather than later?
We’ve been talking pretty heavily about weddings for the last couple of months, he’s shopping for a ring, I’ve got bridal books and magazines with sticky tabs galore scattered throughout the house; this isn’t going to be a tremendous surprise. But, later, after he went to bed and I was finishing up some blog tasks, it hit me.
This ‘thing’ we’re talking about and psuedo-planning, it’s actually going to happen. Sometime in the next few months he’s gonna ask me, I’m gonna say yes, and–holy carp!–we’re going to be engaged. And then married!
I think I even stopped breathing for a minute.
Has anyone else had this pre-engagement it’s-really-happening moment?
