My hair trial is coming up in the next month and I really need to nail down a style. I was thinking loose curls both becuase of FI’s preferences and the whimsical look I am going for with my bridal look. However, becuase the day is really long (hair starts at 8am, reception raps up around 10pm) I am concerned about the staying power of loose curls.
And brides have loose curls for a long day? Or should I just go for an up do?

@SweetCherryPie: I had that for my prom. I had a few curls pinned up, but the rest was lose. It was really humid and hot, my appointment was at 8am, I even had to shower in between. Everything was in place. Talk to your hairdresser, usually they know what to do to make them stay.

Is your hair naturally curly? Mine is and so I just had them do a messy bun type deal with it and it was pretty. If your hair is not naturally curly I would do what PP said.

I’m a hairdresser and do plenty of bridal styling. It is possible for your hair to hold curl for that long, however it will depend on a few things. If your hair holds curl pretty well, you should be able to have enough curl power to last you all night. To keep my brides’ curls lasting for hours, I spray a setting spray on each strand before curling. I usually use Redken Hot Sets 22 (strong hold) or Redken Spray Starch 15 (medium-strong hold). After curling, it’s better to have your stylist to pin the curls to set them. This allows them to cool and lets the curl to better set into the hair, which will better ensure longer lasting curls. I also like to curl my brides’ hair tighter even if they want loose curls bc they will loosen a bit. Hope this helps! Good luck! 🙂
