    Hey hive!

Has anyone hired a steel drum player/band before? Our venue is on Clearwater Beach at a yacht club...cocktail hour is going to be outside by the water/pool/cabana area. I thought it might be a cute touch to hire a steel drum musician.

Here are pics of the cocktail hour location: http://katiebug3017.blogspot.com/2009/08/venue-lovefor-cocktail-hour.html

Have you been at a wedding with one/did you have one at yours? How was it?

(The cost is $250 for the cocktail hour)

    Thoughts?

Never seen one at a wedding but I think it would be way cool!

I think that would be terrific!  Definitely very original and highlyh appropriate for a part of your day when people won't be focused on the music but will nonetheless enjoy it...steel drums make for a lovely, soothing sound.  Sounds like a great idea!

My fiance used to play in a steel drum band! they were amazing and I loved the sounds. We're considering doing this in our wedding for the ceremony. Esp since it's a beach wedding and I believe they just go hand and hand.

We had steel drums for our rehearsal dinner, but we were in Jamaica Smile  It set the perfect tone for the night though, so I highly recommend it!!!

Mrs. Quiche - ah I'm so glad to hear that they worked out well!

legalbee - I know what you mean; I'm hoping that $250 really isn't that much...its one of the cheapest things I've had to pay for at this point! Ugh!

That would be so neat! Steel drum music always seems to get people in the mood for dancing, which would be awesome if you plan on having alot of dancing at your reception!
