MrsHalpert:  approximate guestlist first, then budget, then venue. Because really a venue is the first thing to book but you can’t do it with out your  #s of people and dollars.

Lol Beesus take the wheel, that’s gold.  I’d come up with a rough guest list and budget to start with.

Congrats! Guest list and budget come first, and discussions about what is priority and what isn’t. For example, we’re having a larger reception but fake flowers. Beach location was important, but parking for our older guests/accessability for them won out.

MrsHalpert:  well, set a date. Then determine a budget and guest list.

Congratulations!

I’m actually still waiting, but the SO and I discussed budget and approximate wedding date awhile ago, then I started looking for venues based on the number of people we want at the wedding.  Last weekend, I told him that as soon as we get engaged, we should make a guest list so I can book the venue right away – we ended up making one that night.

I think after getting the venue, I’ll arrange for engagement photos?  Possibly try to book a wedding photographer right away?  I’ll worry about my dress and the colors when the time-limiting steps are out of the way.

Good luck and happy planning!

Congratulations!  I’d add pick a date/season because that will also dictate a lot!

First of all, yes to cake.  Always.  Second I think date, guest list and budget would be a great start.

MrsHalpert:  I’d at least make a list of your “must have” guests. If you decide on 100 people arbitrarily but then come up with 120 that you must invite, oops! Better to figure out how many people you really want vs. would like to have and what’s possible on your budget before making any big decisions.
