Ok so here's the deal...my fiance and I and another family member and his gf got engaged at the same time..long story...As I was planning my wedding the other couple decided to move their wedding up and are now getting married before us. To my shock she took my exact same colors and decor and applied it to her wedding! Now I am stuck redoing my entire wedding. I had royale purple as one of my colors. I love the color purple and I'm now planning a destination beach wedding...I'm considering using the color Sangria by David's Bridal as a tropical purple color for my bridesmaids...do you think that is too close to royale purple and look for another color or keep it? I don't want our colors to be the same! HELP!!!
How much do your guest lists overlap? I know you said that you don't want the colors to be the same... but if it's a scheme and a plan you love, is it going to be that big a deal on the actual day?
Use whatever color you like, no one is going to be scandalized by seeing a shade of purple at two weddings in a row.

Thanks...well my fiance and her fiance are brothers so our guest will be about the same..however I'm having the wedding in Jamaica and not everyone in the family who will be attending theirs will be attending ours b/c they will have to pay and travel LOL I might go with the Wisteria color which is a light elegant purple color.
You may as well use the same shade of purple. No one will notice. And if they do, they will think that violet or wisteria or royal purple are all the same color-purple.
Also, I wouldn't share any details with this girl anymore. If she is "stealing" all your ideas, then just keep her in the dark. The nice thing is that since her wedding is before yours, you can change whatever you feel you need to after her wedding.
When I found out that she was using all my same decor and colors I showed her FI how I had the plans in my iphone for almost a year just in case they tried to say that I was just making it up. Our weddings are six months apart..
Well first dont tell her any more about your wedding lol.. Thats awful. Im sorry. Now I dont think that anyone will care if your color is the same. If that is what your heart is set on then do it. Just have different touches to your wedding. It could be better that her wedding is first :) the little touches are what makes the wedding yours. You will get to see what she does and you can do your wedding to your taste and style without it looking like hers.
You can do the same colors but still have things very different. Last June, FI and I went to his cousin's wedding. It was my first time meeting his mom's side of the family. We got there, and I discovered that we actually had the exact same colors. We're not too worried about it, though. Their wedding was a very modern outdoors one. We're having a super formal Venetian masquerade ball. The colors are the same, but I doubt anyone will even notice.
Likewise, the other couple is getting married at home (I think), and you're going to Jamaica. That right there is such a big difference that the colors won't even matter. It's like Marilyn Monroe and Miss Piggy. They're both blondes, but the hair color is not what people remember about them. :)
I have had problems with her before coping things I do. She even made a wedding website and after she saw mine she made another one on the same site I did..Last year she decorated her Christmas tree with the same colors and ornaments as mine! I just can't be original around her!!.I believe someone in the family mentioned my theme and colors to her b/c I certainly did not tell her anything..I don't think they did it intentionally though...you guys are right...I should keep my Sangria color...her wedding is an outdoor night wedding and mine is during the day on the beach so I don't think anyone will notice...
