Hello everyone. I just had the worst pain of my life.

I was just weddingbeeing and all of the sudden I had the most intense abdominal pain of my life and it didnt let up for a whole hour. I felt as if I was in labor (or what I would imagine it to be like) I took a pain pill and I am feeling much better. I almost called 911.

I called my mom just a few minutes ago and she said she had the same thing this past weekend. She was sitting on the toilet feeling like she was gonna pass out or die.

Must be something going around. Anyone else have these mysterious pains?

I'm having something similar too. I posted a thread about it.

I don't mean to be crude, but could you be constipated? Or have a lot of gas? If it comes back I would make an appointment with your doctor. Do you have a number in New York you can call that lets you talk to a nurse? We have something in Ontario called Telehealth that's a free service, you tell them your symptoms and they ask a bunch of questions and give advice.

What kind of pain was it?  Was it an abdominal, sitting on the toilet kind of pain like your moms?  Just wondering because I saw ama0219's thread about her stomach bug and am curious if it's the same situation?

@bakerella: Not being crude at all silly! No constipation I go number 2 a lot! My FI just happens to be a EMT. He checked me out and pushed on my tums a lot. I'm okay now so I might just wait it out.

I had an intense pain like this (on my bachelorette party no less!) and couldn't eat, could barely walk.  After I went to the bathroom I was completely normal again.  ***TMI Alert!***  Granted I had to sit there a while to relieve myself, after I did it was like I was 100%.  I tend to get constipated when I travel and the whole week before I had been having stomach issues.

I'd wait it out...but if it turns into something like the other bee was posting I'd go to the dr!

@Mrs. Beans: Barring any gas or bowel movement issues, my second inclination would be a possible kidney stone. Sometimes the pain comes and goes while it's passing through your system.

@Mrs. Beans: Sometimes, yes, but not necessarily. Often times, the first sign is the abdominal and/or back pain. Then comes the hurting while peeing. I'm in no way medically qualified, but my dad has kidney stones alot, and almost everyone in my family has had them once or twice in their lifetimes. By all means, get a medical opinion, and take what I say as just a grain of salt, lol!

I thought of kidney stone when I saw this too, which is why I asked if it was a stomach bug type of pain (needing to use the bathroom).  I've had quite a few kidney stones.  It doesn't hurt only when you pee, it's a terrible, paralyzing pain that can last for hours.  It actually doesn't hurt when you pee until the moment you pass it (at least not for me).  While it's moving through your system it's an intense abdominal pain. My pain is usually towards my back more towards the right side.

@ama0219: Again, I don't mean to ask questions that are too personal, BUT, when you do have a BM does it make you feel better? and for how long?

Depending on your answer, I totally might have this too... although, I don't think I'm in near as much pain as you, but maybe that's in my near future???

@Mrs. Beans: Nope, you're correct. Kidney stones hurt when you pee them out. But you do get pain, although it's more in your lower back than abdominal area...

@mikaylav3: hmmm...Mine felt like intense period pains. Like its all over not on one particular side. It was also achey on my back like period pains. I am not really on my period though. I have "brownies" as i like to call them. Sorry if that grosses you out!

@Mrs. Beans: I don't know!!! But the last 2 days I have NOT been having normal BM's, a LOT more frequent than normal too, and I get a TERRIBLE pain before I go. TMI, I know, but... it's  been freaking me out. Half of me wondered if it's my period (which I should be getting on monday) and the other half of me though I was pregnant (although, that seems not likely), but now after reading this, it's making me wonder.

@Mrs. Beans: haha, nope, it doesn't!  Hmm.. it seems too low to be a kidney stone then.  I still wouldn't rule it out but it seems like it's probably something else. Unfortunately, I'm only an expert at the kidney stones (I've had about 8 in the past 6 or 7 years.. ekk), so I have no other advice :( Good luck though!  If it keeps up I'd definitely contact your doctor!

@.twist.: One of my friends used to get that before her period. We called it tight butthole! She would have these weird pains in her butt before she went number 2.

ps. nothing is TMI for me. I'm one of those gross girls. hahah

@Mrs. Beans: hahaha, I'm one of those girls too, but you never know who else is on the internet!!!

Yea, it's not painful in that area, it's terrible abdominal pain, that kinda tells me if I don't do something I'm gonna be really sick, get to the bathroom FAST.

ETA: I've also never really had anything bad happen before my period. Only on the day my period starts does all the bad stuff start happening... not before though, so this is totally new to me...

FI actually had a nasty stomach thing over the weekend.  He ate a burrito Friday night (from a legit Mexican place, not a street vendor or anything), and all day Saturday it felt like "the burrito was still in his stomach and was trying to punch its way out."  He said he could feel it moving down all day, as the pain changed, and nothing helped.  By Sunday he was pretty much feeling like himself again.

So burrito vs. stomach bug, I don't know, but it sounded awful.

@OP: if you don't have a free telehealth line, our province has our database online.

You can access it at www.healthlinkbc.ca   There are 2 ways to get  information when you have symptoms:

    - you can click on START under Check  Your Symptoms, then click on the right body part- in this case the abdomen

-or, you can enter abdominal pain uner the LEARN section, pick the correct age group in the list of topics, then start the Check your symptoms on the right side of the next page.

In either case you will be asked a series of questions until you get a recommendation. You will not get a diagnosis. No competent health professional would try to diagnose over the internet.

You can also access lots of home treatment information if applicable and other general health information.

Were you nauseous at all?  I had gallstones a few years back.  The pain was horrible.  My mom had them, too, and she described it like labor combined with nausea.  Would happen every few days, and could be trigger by a higher fat meal (chinese food was a big trigger for my attacks). Episodes would last about an hour.  I eventually had my gallbladder removed.

It may just be a bad reaction to something you ate, but if it happens again, make an appt to see your Dr.
