I stopped birth control back in February. DH and I are not trying yet (still using protection), but are going to start trying in the fall. I wanted to get off the pill to give my body some time to adjust. I got a period like clockwork in March (maybe a day later than normal), and haven't seen one again since.

I keep reading online that this can be normal... but I'm starting to get anxious that something may be wrong that may affect my fertility in the near future.

And yes, I definitely know I'm not pregnant... have taken 3 tests, just in case. ;)

Don't worry, it takes a while for everything to come back to normal!   I went off in January 2010 and got one period between Jan and June; it took until about September before it was coming regularly at 5 weeks on the dot.   Sadly, that only lasted for about four months and now it's a bit more irregular (anywhere from 4 week cycles to nearly 6 week cycles).   I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, on a side note, I know a number of people who went off BC and became pregnant before their periods had gotten back onto a regular track.  You definitely don't need to be regular to get pregnant!  :-)

I think that it's probably just your body re-regulating (particularly if you've been on BC for a long time). With that said, I will say going off of my BCP is what clued me in to my PCOS. I think that just to be aware of what's going on, make an appt at your OB-GYN and see what they think. It's not like going in there can hurt, and if you're going to TTC soon you can go ahead and talk with them about that and see if you want/need to get any tests done between now and then. Better safe than sorry, ya know? Best.

It took me 3 full months (literally 90 days) to get my first period off the bcp. My doc had said to give it 3 months and then come in and they'd induce it. I had an appointment scheduled for a few days later when it finally came. Relax and know that it is normal for it to take awhile. Some women's bodies just need to re-adjust and re-learn how to function properly!

I went off the pill in January of 2009 and it took me almost a year to have my period again.  I am also like AmeliaBedelia and found out that I have PCOS because of my lack of a cycle.  I am still not regular but I have been doing acupuncture and my cycles are getting more and more regular now.

I wouldn't worry.  I think it is VERY common.

It can take anywhere from a month to a year to get your period again after you stop BC.  However, do not assume that if you don't have your period you are not fertile.  I made that mistake after getting off the shot several years ago and I ended up with unplanned twins

I have been off the pill since Oct 2010. My body is still confused. I didn't get my period for a while and was worried but I did a good bit of research and found it can take some time for your body get back on track. I felt better after reading up on it, that it's a common thing.

It also took me almost 3 full months to get my period when I first went off the pill. I was charting as soon as I came off, and my first "cycle" was 84 days. I called my doctor and they let me know that they wouldn't even see me until it was 90 days, so that can be normal. If you get past 90 days, give your doctor a call!
