Sorry this might be a weird thread but I am curious to see what the responses are. A conversation came up today about the 'after-life' and playing with Ouija boards to contact spirits. I had a dramatic experience with one when I was much younger and I will never forget about it (just to clarify, it was just a fun thing my friends and I did when we were much younger and not a daily practice! :). Whether any of it was actually real, I can not be sure! A few of our friends claim they have seen ghosts but others say they don't believe in it and it is in all in people's heads.

So, have you ever used a Ouija Board and if so, tell me your experience. Also, do you believe in ghosts? Any weird storys or encounters? Be honest!

Haha, this is so funny because we just bought one yesterday. It was a halloween leftover and marked down to $4! I do believe in ghosts but am not sure that oijua is directly related to it - I just see it as a silly game, like "bloody mary". We're actually watching Paranormal Activity right now, lol!

I believe in ghosts. I can hear random voices from time to time, but maybe it is just the wind? I've definitely had spooky things happen near me, and have seen "something." I don't know. My husband and I were actually just talking about it yesterday. I always assumed ghosts were either evil spirits, or souls that were too afraid to move on, but he said the Bible says they are some sort of demons or fallen angels, but not to worry about them, and God will take care of you. I happen to be a Christian, so this was a comfort to me personally. Also, I believe the Ouija board has something to do with the devil; however, I hadn't heard about that until I was a middle schooler, and had played with one ONCE before that. I did notice I was more distraught for quite some time after messing with it, and I definitely won't have one in my home. :)

I used to hear buzzing in my apartment all the time, like from a ghostly cellphone.  But I knew for a fact that I didn't have any old cellphones in my apartment.  It gave me the chills, especially late at night!

Then one day I realized that my upstairs neighbors probably had their cellphones on vibrate, and it was just buzzing on their desk or floor.  After I realized that, I felt pretty dumb!

I totally believe in ghosts and have always been waaay too superstitous and chicken to play with a ouija board! I've had some weird stuff happen (including one time where I woke up and my hair was cut) so I do believe. Ghost stories and scary movies totally freak me out so I tend to avoid them! LOL

@farmgirl2106: After my experience, I will never have one in my house either! My friends and I made one when I first used it.

We happened to contact her "Grandpa" who had just passed away recently and he was telling us that money was coming to her Grandma soon. It so happens that there was a retirement fund her grandma didn't know about and received a few months after we were told by her "Grandpa". And the one that gets me is when we used it, none of the girls had ever used one either and at first the planchette started to move down the numbers going to 1 then "yes", 2 then "yes" and so on...we never understood why but after just looking it up, people say to never have Ouija Boards do that because the 'spirit' is trying to get out!

@farmgirl2106:  I'm kind of in the same place, I believe in spirits, but not "ghosts" as most people think of them (I don't believe that people hang around earth after they die or contact the living).  As such, I don't believe in Quija boards, either.  I've never played with one.  I did want to get one when I was younger and was just curious, but my parents wouldn't allow it (my dad is a minister).

I totally believe in ghosts. I haven't had any personal experiences, but I am close with a couple of people who have. When one of my friends was little she went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and saw a teenage boy in his boxers standing there. When she ran and told her parents they put their house up for sale a couple weeks later. Turns out a teenage boy had committed suicide in their bathroom before they bought the house. Very creepy. Her parents said they had been hearing a lot of things like doors closing and such so when she told them that they were like "we're out of here"!

As for ouija boards I am not sure if I totally buy into them. My best friend had an experience with one when her boyfriend's family brought a medium into their house to see what was going on there but other than that I've never known anyone with an experience with one. I don't feel comfortable messing around with them though so I won't ever use one personally.

@bloodgo1: That is really creepy about your friend's experience! Good thing they got out of there...I have a friend right now having the same thing happen. She just moved into a 100 year old house and is constantly hearing strange things...door handles moving and seeing random blurs of lights pass her, in which not only she has seen it, but others in the house too!

Yeah, I woke up and a section of my hair was shorter... like, quite significantly shorter. There wasn't any clippings though! LOL I did suspect there was something going on in the room. Our cats used to watch and pounce at something that wasn't there, there would be rattling sometimes and once my shoe moved when it was lying on the floor and nothing touched it... but I never got any creepy nasty vibes so I wasn't too freaked out. I have been in houses/rooms where there was a bad vibe though. I hated going into the bathroom at my best friends old house - waaaay creepy!

@bloodgo1 that's so creepy about the boy in the bathroom - EEEK!

I was watching that stupid show "Celebrity Ghost Stories" tonight and was just talking about this with my FH. I want to have an encounter with a (nice) ghost so bad! I realllllllly want to believe in them, but until I have an encounter myself, I will always be skeptical.

My uncle said that one day, this lady came up to him (who he had never met before) and told him that his mother's (my grandmother, who had already passed away) spirit was standing right there. Apparently this lady was saying how my grandmother was proud of him and mentioned my grandmother's middle name, IZOPHENE (which she always hated). She was also talking about other stuff too that she couldn't have known (like their childhood dog) unless, like she said, my grandmother's spirit was right there. Now my uncle believes in ghosts/ mediums/ etc. because there's no way she could have guessed the name Izophene and all the other things that she said.

Another thing that she said was that hang up phone calls (when the phone rings but no one is there when you answer it) are the dead's way of making contact. We always got hang up calls at our house. I don't really believe that's what it was but it always felt comforting to me when that happened.

Also, my other uncle would stay the night on the couch at my parent's house a lot when I was growing up, and he always said that he heard footsteps going down the hallway, but nobody was ever there. My family always thought it was my grandfather's spirit, who passed away in their living room. I was always really upset that I didn't get to hear the footsteps though.

I totally believe there are spirits around. Partially because I think it makes 'sense' in a bizarre way, and more so since I met FI. I had some of my own experiences as a kid, including one with a ouija board that WAS MOVING On its on and spelled a mans name when we asked who was there. During one my my teenage birthday parties, we 'contacted' the same spirit (someone had supposedly been murdered at a house down the street, i dont know if that was true). We played a game where we asked questions and had a dck of cards. Hearts were yes, spades no, clubs maybe and diamonds ask again later. We would ask and then flip a card. The answers were INSANELY consistent. We kept asking him to send us a sign, and be kept saying yes he wouls, in 15 mins, in 10 mins etc. Then all the sudden, the lights in the basement where we were went out. No explanation. We all went RUNNING upstairs screaming in terror and my dad was sitting there with a drink, totally confused. The basement light was the only one in the whole house that went off (not a power outtage or anything, it wasnt raining). That had never happened before and never since. That still freaks me out! FFIL has regular experiences like hang up phone calls (with scratchy, distant voices left on the machine), objects randomly moving around while he is sleeping (sometimes even getting put ON HIS BED), and other weird/unexplainable things that make sense given his past (that I don't want to get into here). I don't think it's always good or bad, but definitely souls that aren't ready to move on. Oh and to answer the question, I do think the board could be a way to communicate.

I have never and would never play with a ouji board... I just get easily freaked out! As for ghosts/spirits..................... I dunno. I definitely believe in spirits. I believe in life after death. I believe in positive and negative energy. I don't know that I believe in "ghosts" as in... the souls of once-living people trapped on earth trying to coexist with us. And I don't think I believe in ghosts/spirits manipulating the world around them.

My friends and I made and used one a couple of times at school. We used a glass and it did move around the board. Looking at it now it was creepy and a bit stupid plus pointless.

Ookay this is going to be a long post because some pretty freaky sh!t has happened to me!!! All of the following happened at my parents house over the course of about 5 years. No one was killed there, it's not a graveyard, the land was originally swamp land before it was backfilled and houses built in our neighbourhood.

So first, we'll start with my sister. She was packing to leave for university and was talking on the phone with a friend (this was like 17 years ago). She happened to look up at her mirror. She was at an angle where she couldn't see herself in the mirror, but could see other parts of the room. Looking back at her was an old man. He wasn't totally opaque, and he was just sort of staring at her curiously. My sister started SCREAMING, the man looked really sad, and then turned and walked away, disappearing from the mirror. Of course the girl on the other end of the phone flipped out and threatened to call 911 until my sister told her what happened. Weird. We never had another siting of the old man.

A couple years later, my parents decided to renovate the house. We dug up part of the yard to extend out the back, and built a second floor on it. Nothing weird happened during this time, nothing was found. BUT after it was all done, weird stuff started happening. I'm not entirely sure of the order of events, but it all happened within 5 years. I think we p!ssed off something/someone when we built, I have no other explanation as to why all this happened.

One day I was studying for a test on my bed. A weird ball of light flew in through my window, zipped around the room, stopped and hovered for a few seconds over my textbook in my lap, and then zipped off and disappeared about a foot from the wall. The light was a bit smaller than a basketball. I was totally frozen, couldn't move for a good few minutes after it happened. I went and told my mom, her explanation was swamp gas. There hasn't been a swamp there for 60 something years, I'm not sure I buy it, I just know what happened.

I had a lot of friends who stayed at our house REGULARLY, mostly a group of 5 guys who were like my big brothers. One night we were all hanging out talking in the loft space upstairs. We had a big sectional sofa that had a pull out couch so it was more like a big square. We were all stretched out lounging and talking like teenagers do, and one of the guys had his arms stretched over the back of the couch (there was about 2' of space between it and a wall). All of a sudden he looked really alarmed and was like, I can't move my arms. He couldn't pull them back over the couch. We looked behind the couch to see if someone was playing a trick, but there was no one there, and we started tugging on his arms and we could NOT move them. He wasn't exactly a big guy, so there's no way he could have resisted the strength of the rest of us pulling his arms. This lasted a good few minutes and then stopped.

We had a good stereo system in our basement. It would randomly turn on FULL blast in the middle of a CD in the middle of a song at all hours of the day and night. We tested it and there was no way the remote made it work from any other area of the house other than if you were in that room, nevermind starting it at random spot on a CD.

In that same room, my mom had some fake flowers. I was in that room one day with a friend when the music turned on full blast by itself, and the flowers started opening and closing. I don't know how you'd explain that.

Another day, I was home alone, having a shower. Someone grabbed my shoulder from behind (so fingers hooked over onto the front of my shoulder, palm on my back). I looked and no one was there (thank god) but it's the scariest thing I've ever experienced.

I also had some really vivid dreams that would best be described as out of body experiences, but those are debatable really, because who knows if they were just really crazy vivid dreams or real, but I can tell you they FELT very real.

Oh and things would go missing all.the.time. My sister and I both lost items of jewelry only to have it appear YEARS later sitting on the floor in the middle of the room.

I had a Ouija board experience as well. I remember my girlfriends being over, us being really hyped up, getting the board out, and then I can't remember ANYTHING else (like I blacked out or something) until I pulled myself away totally drained of energy and completely out of it. I think I slept for like 14 hours after. I haven't touched one since.

Oh my gosh, this is bringing back so many weird memories now. A couple more things and then I'm done I promise! So another night at my parents house, my parents were out and a few of my friends were over. We were all in the basement and it was getting cold in the house, so I went upstairs alone to close the windows. I was closing the window in the diningroom when in the reflection I saw three people sort of peering in from between the french doors on the opposite side of the room. I spun around and no one was there. I ran downstairs and asked if anyone had been upstairs and they all swore up and down No. Lots of my friends also saw "shadow" type people in window reflections over the years.

Now the last thing. I constantly find dimes. Everywhere. Like I'll be working at the dining room table, leave for two minutes to grab something, come back, and there's a dime on the table that wasn't there before. They pop up everywhere, not just around my house. I always find them on the ground or if anything falls out of my pockets, it's always a dime or two but no other change. It is the strangest thing ever and since I've told DH about it, he's noticed it too! I think it's from my uncle. He died when I was 12 and I didn't know him all that well, although he was involved in some shady dealings (he was a biker) so I don't know the true circumstances of his death. At my grandparents cottage (he and my mom's parents), we used to have this "piggy bank" of sorts, that was a big thermometre on the wall that you put dimes in (it ONLY fit dimes). Every time you put a dime in it, it would make a little dinging noise from a bell at the bottom. I have to wonder if it was there when he was a kid too and this is the element we have in common, loving to put dimes in this thermometre growing up and so now he leaves me dimes everywhere. I absolutely love finding the dimes though and knowing he's with me. I often find them when I'm really happy or when I'm having a bad day. It always makes me stop and smile.

I'll stop now. I know, it's a lot. It freaks me out ;)

@CorgiTales: Dude. I don't watch scary movies anymore. Trust me. I'm thankful the stuff that happened at my parents house was more of the "curious and quirky" nature and "not the spirits trying to hurt me" variety. It stopped all of a sudden, although I don't know why. My mom also said that if she had stuff in the oven and didn't hear the timer she'd feel a pinch on her back to remind her. Creepy!!

@bakerella: ugh that stuff just creeps me the hell out. The only weird thing I've had actually happen to me is when I was in HS and I was playing tennis with an ex-bf of mine. We were just goofing around bc I don't know how to play really. So anyways we're at this park all alone in the middle of the day and all of a sudden I heard someone yell in my right ear. I can't remember what it said anymore but it was a word. I whirled around because I thought someone had snuck up on me but there was no one there. My ex-bf was like wtf was that about and he didn't hear anything. I totally let it drop and I still kinda think maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me or something but paranormal movies weird me out. FI doesn't understand why I would SO rather watch a serial killer movie than a ghost movie because he said I should be more scared of real crazy people, but I told him our security system works against murderers and not against ghosts haha. I still like 90% don't "believe" in ghosts or their ability to do stuff... but I will admit there is that 10% that maybe does and just doesn't want to admit its a possibility because that freaks me out.

@MissBoston: I know! And I thank heavens a lot of my friends were there with me to experience it too, otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have thought I was losing my mind!!! I had a psychic tell me later that I should never play with Ouija boards because I'm a really receptive person or something like this, so I don't touch them at all. I don't necessarily think she was a great psychic or anything, I just think I've experienced enough that it's common sense to avoid it just in case ;) It's not like I'm going to miss out on anything! LOL! I find it all really intriguing though. I've heard there's a freaky good psychic that does readings on Friday/Saturdays in Toronto at a restaurant and I'm dying to book an appointment with her for fun!! She told a friend of a friend that she would get pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl, within a year. The girl wasn't even trying (or wanting!), but guess what? Within that year she and her SO were pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. Crazy!

I have heard lots of really unsettling stories about ouiji boards and other.. strange activity enough to at least sway my belief towards the possibility of spirits existing.

However, when it comes to ouija I have never and will never touch one. However, I believe in Windigo/Wendigo  folklore so take it with a grain of salt. :)

    @bakerella:

Do your parents know the history of the house? One of my sisters friends lived in a house with very similar occurances to the ones you describe (some more..violent & poltergiesty) and long after they moved they found out that the house was basically sitting on an electomagnetic feild.

On the other hand, my mom & sister still vehemently believe that they saw ghosts in our old farmhouse (they saw figures, the tv would be on at night randomly etc) --but it could have been that the realator dislcosed that someone had been murdered there (over 35years ago today) and their superstitions getting the better of them.

@missmouse29: The best I know about the house is that it was built by the builder who did our whole neighbourhood and he lived there himself until he sold it to my parents. I'm not sure how long he lived there, but my guess would be 5-10 years? So it's not a 100+ year old house, it was relatively new when they bought it. They live in an area that was inhabited by Native populations many many many years before, but we didn't dig up any ancient burial grounds or anything when we dug out the yard for the new part of the basement, so I think that isn't really an issue. My parents have lived in the house for 30+ years and, like I said, were only the second owners. We don't have any big hydro towers or anything else around. It's just a house in a nice neighbourhood. Lots of trees. Parkland nearby. Nothing out of the ordinary!

@bakerella: Oh I TOTALLY buy it. Totally. I think psychics/mediums are in the same business as used car dealers - it's hard for most people to discern between the real and the fake, and it's SO easy to be a good fake, you sort of discredit the rest of the profession. I've known people who have had so many "can't be a coincidence" experiences that I've given up trying to reason it away with science.

There are tons of stories in my family about people having experiences (my grandma and 1st cousin BOTH were awakened at the moment their moms died - one by someone shouting their name in the middle of the night, the other by the overwhelming smell of her perfume that went away and never came back after that night).

My favorite story, and most recent, is about that same grandmother.. let's call her Mary (not her name). She *always* had some sort of sense of spirits being around and I think still sort of 'straddles' both worlds. Anyway, my brother is in a serious relationship with a girl now, they'll probably get married. The girlfriend's mom, YEARS ago, was sad because her mother died (girlfriend's grandmother.. hope this isn't too confusing), she was feeling sad so went to a psychic. The psychic told her mom, "Your mother is fine - she's hanging around with someone named Mary. Do you know anyone named Mary? Well she says your daughter will meet the man of her dreams when she is 23, and they will get married". Her mom was really confused because she didn't know anyone with that name (it's more unusual than Mary!) so thought the psychic was wrong or making it up.

Well, girlfriend did indeed meet my brother when she was 23, and only a year or so after they started dating did my brother mention that his grandmother was named Mary. Girlfriend told her mother in passing ("Oh, we were up at Mary's lake house this weekend") - her mother then remembered the name and what the psychic said, and now both of our families believe the two grandmothers were in cahoots and set them up :-)

Someone else mentioned the electromagnetic field - I have heard that can cause 'strange things' to happen, but I've also heard that particular frequency just makes it easier for spirits to interact with the physical world.. so it makes the causality a bit more confusing :)

@bakerella: It sounds like you or someone in your family (or all of you?) are psychically inclined. Or 'receptive' as the psychic reader put it.

I think Ouija boards can be good or bad, depending on the will/intentions of the person(s) using them. Think of a baseball bat. It's harmless on its own. But put it in the hands of someone who is intent on doing harm, and it's a weapon. But if you're using it to defend yourself against someone trying to hurt you, it's a good thing. I know, I know that analogy is a stretch, but I hope you get my general point.

As for ghosts, spirits, etc, I fully believe in them, and have no fear. I also fully believe in real, genuine psychics that have been given a gift from God, but not like the carnival or hotline ones-those are bullshit. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I hang on every word that comes out of a psychic's mouth, however I do have faith in the practice as a whole. But that gets into a whole 'nother discussion about spiritualism, faith, and religion, so I'll just leave it at that.

@Wonderwoman217: I've definitely had the most experiences of anyone in my family that I know of. As far as I know my sister just had that one sighting, my mom gets the pinches, and my dad has never said anything. My mom loves the things with the dimes that I get. Funny one the other day, I went to pick up FIL's dog from the breeder (totally unexpectedly), and when I was bringing the dog back to the car, there were two dimes on the driveway right outside the car door. I should really start myself a dimes only piggy bank and save up how rich my uncle is making me! Dimes go a lot further than pennies! LOL!

This post is creeping me out just reading it. I would never ever touch a Ouija Board--they creep me out sitting on the shelf in a store and I think they are just asking for trouble. I believe that spirts/ghosts are all around us, all the time. I've had quite a few weird experiences in almost every single house I lived in and can remember some of them back as far as being three years old. This is going to be a long one---

The first one I remember was at my grandparents house where my mom and I lived until I was about three. Back in the 60's their kitchen had caught on fire and the previous owners burned to death, but not before getting out to the backyard. Both my grandfather and I would have dreams where we were looking out the bedroom window and we would see people running outside that were on fire. He knew what had happened there, but at the age I really don't think I would have, and no one remembers ever telling me about it until I brought up the dreams years later. That house was generally creepy. It always felt like someone was watching you and you could always hear voices and footsteps upstairs.

I've also had experienced in two brand new houses. At my mom's the smoke detectors will go off every 15 minutes without fail on my uncle's birthday, and this started the year that he died. I used to also wake up in the middle of the night in my great-grandmother's house and see my great-grandfather watching me from the end of the bed. He had passed when I was 4 and had never lived in that house.

The house that FI and I live in now is across the street from an old cemetary. I've never been thought something was in the house, but, our doorbell goes off constantly with no one there. The creepy part about that is the fact that the doorbell is disconnected and there is absolutely no electricity running through it.

@Bakerella - That is so creepy! I can see why you do not watch scary movies anymore!

With my Ouija board experience I  told in my earlier post, it freaked me out and I will never touch one again. When I used it with different friends, it would go down the numbers on the board and I did not know what that ment. When I looked it up, it said do not let the 'spirit' do that because it is trying to get out...not sure what that means but how it happened almost every time freaks me out!

I have had a lot of weird things happen to me in the way of ghosts/spirits but one I will never forget:

Me, my friend and her parents were on vacation at this hotel near some ice caves in the middle of nowhere. We were eating dinner at the resteraunt downstairs and the waiter came over and said "I just want to warn you but by all means, not scare you at all...but a few years ago we had an incident with a women hanging herself in one of the rooms and her spirit will sometimes make appearances with our guests. But do not worry, we have not heard of anyone being harmed." The room she happened to hang herself which had the police "Caution" tape on the front of it, was 3 doors down from me and my friends. So later that evening, there was a vending machine down the hall and around the corner. We went over to get a snack and was putting the quarter in the machine, I accidentally dropped it and the quarter started to roll down the hall way, around the corner, and continued down the long hallway and finally stopped tails up right in front of the condemned room. My friend and I looked at eachother and thought "That was weird!". So later that night we are sitting on our beds talking. The lights started to flicker uncontrollably and the door (that we had dead bolted locked) swung all the way open, and then slammed shut. My friend jumped in my bed with me and put the covers over her face screaming...just terrified. I was so scared too that I had hot sweats... a few minutes later the lights started to flicker again and the ice bucket fell off our table....There was a precense in that room that I can not explain and needless to say, we both did not get any sleep that night nor did we move an inch from where we were all night...I was so terrified.

And one more...this one totally freaks me out....my sister (who is not superstitious at all) called me in tears a few months back...her husband's mom died very tragically right before my sister gave birth a few years ago. My sister and her where really close...anyway, my sister called crying because she got a text from Carol (her husbands mom who passed) and it said "Don't worry about anything, I will be there". At the same time she received that text, the tv shut off. She turned back on the tv, so no explanation to that...My sister called Carols old number and it is disconnected. We can not explain how she received the text from her husbands deceased mom, but my sister says maybe it was a text that just now got through to her that she tried sending before she passed away. I don't buy it...it had been a few years since she had passed...

I am all freaked out now!

@nqz100: That is all crazy!!! Omg!!! That doorbell story is NUTS!!!

Your fire alarm story reminded me of something that happened here in our house. A few months ago, our fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, DH ran out to see what it was, there was no fire, nothing was wrong. Weird. Okay, whatever. The next day we're talking to DH's stepmom who tells us that at his cousin's house (they're about a half hour away), they're smoke detector went off in the middle of the night, and it turns out it was at the same time. Weird!

Oh, one other thing. There was a huge mirror in my parents house in the main bathroom. It likely weighed 100+ pounds. One day it literally jumped off the wall and shattered all over the floor. The clips were still intact on the walls, on the pieces of the mirror, there's no way it fell because something broke. It would have had to jump off the wall to fall. There were no big bangs or bumps or earthquakes that could have jarred it off the clips. And no, this wasn't the mirror my sister saw the old man in. That mirror was thrown out ;)

@MsJ26: Omg insane!!! I totally have goosebumps and am freaked out now and DH is at work! LOL! I've heard a lot of stories about texts/phone calls from cell phones after a person has passed. I think there were a lot of stories like that post 9/11 as well.   That hotel room story is insane. Why in the world would the waiter tell you?! I would have left the hotel!!!

@bakerella: I've gotten so used the doorbell I doesn't even freak me out anymore. I actually think I know who it is--one of my friend's grandparents is buried across the street and I swear I saw him in the yard one night. If I knew for sure it was him, I would let him in to hang out.

Your stories are just crazy! Have your parents ever had a psychic or medium come to the house to check things out? I would want to know who is there.

    I totally believe in it.

Actually, my aunt was a psychic. They lived in Phoenix. After my mother got pregnant, they decided not to find out it I was a girl or not. My aunt apparently called my parents in the middle of the night and told my mother that she had a dream that they were having a daughter and that she was going to make me some jewelry as a present. Now, my aunt was in the final stages of a battle with breast cancer at the time and she died about a month before I was born. Sure enough. Here I am, I'm a girl and I still have the necklace and bracelet she made me. Creepy thing is, I look EXACTLY like her. If you put a picture of me and a picture of her at my age next to each other, you'd think it was the same person.

My parents live in a house that was built just after the Civil War. It used to be the servants quarters to a larger manor house that burnt down in the 30s-40s, I believe. Our street is actually the driveway from the estate, there's even brick pillars at the end of my street from the gates. I've had many strange occurences in their house. The usual stuff mostly, footsteps, doors opening and closing, faucets turning on by themselves, general feeling of being watched, seeing shadows moving, stuff falling on the floor with no one in the room, etc.

I did have one terrifying incident happen at a park here. The park is called Creve Couer Park. It's actually known for being haunted by some indian spirits, mainly the spirit of an indian maid who mourns the death of her lover and she regularly jumps off the the waterfall in the park. Well, when I was about 16, a friend and I were hiking in the woods on a trail by the waterfall. It was summer, middle of the day, bright and sunny and all of a sudden I just remember everything dimming. I felt this really strange presence behind me, like I was being followed. I'm a pretty paranoid person, so I was freaking out that some creeper dude had followed us into the woods. We were looking around, but couldnt hear anything or see anyone, so we kept walking, just a little faster. I just remember getting this overwhelming sense of dread, like something horrible was going to happen. We started hearing all kinds of weird noises and footsteps. We were pretty close to the end of the trail, so we started jogging a bit, just trying to get the hell out the there and then my friend felt a hand on her shoulder and freaked. We booked it and ran the last bit to the trail end. When we got to the end, it was bright and sunny again. No nosies, no footsteps, nothing. It was probably one of the scariest things thats ever happened to me.
