My FI is a go with the flow type of guy, “whatever makes you happy” is sort of the theme to our wedding thus far. (YAY!) I do value his opinions when he has them, because I don’t want to completely take over the planning process.
After my mom and I found our fantastic venue, I brought my FI up there to get his stamp of approval. He loved it (YAY) but, his main concern was the fact that the rope lights under the steps were partially out! whaaaaattt?? lol I laughed.. a lot.. and then told the venue coordinator, and they will be fixed! haha. Plus, we went out there again this past weekend and he noticed the lights they have on the outside of the building were partially out too…. OH MY GOSH!! hahaha
Has your FI had any random comments or requests that have made you sort of stop and go hmmmmm?

My FI literally care about nothing but the fact that he wants a Shea Stadium replica grooms cake.. everything else… he could care less… oh and apparently that I wear a veil…. men….

My FI was very concerned that the napkins not be glittery fabric because then it would get on peoples faces. Yes very odd huh, I really want know where he experienced glitter napkins that attacked!

My FI hasn’t specifically asked for anything… which is really good because my mom and I are both pretty opinionated and I just don’t think we could add another person’s opinions into this situation! The men in my family have been telling him to practice the phrase “Yes, dear” and I think he’s really getting it 🙂

Haha, one of my FI’s first suggestions:
We’re getting married lakeside, and had the idea that we could pay people who own sailboats to anchor them in the lake behind the ceremony, so they could be in the backdrop of all of our pictures. Okay, so that might be kind of neat but it was literally his first suggestion once the venue was picked! 🙂 🙂 Love him!

The biggest request my FH had was to ensure the tableclothes went all the way to the floor. I can only imagine that this was something his mom must have insisted on at his sisters wedding so he is only repeating what she said, but it still amused me. Of ALL the details, that is the only thing you really care about? Hhah!
kostahowsk that is a cute idea! even if a little silly, because he is trying to make it so pretty and perfect for you.

he comments on if the baseboards were chipping or if the paint was chipping near the corners of venues when we were visiting various venues… also commented on placement of “exit signs” and electric sockets – made me want to pull my hair out!!

FI has an opinion on everything but the flowers. And I’m sure once we get there, he’ll find something to say :). It’s odd, because he’s usually very un-opinionated. I like it, though, since I’ll know that it’s our wedding and not just mine :).

@vickyness: My dad will do this at the most random places or lean against a wall and be like yep is blah blah off here and not structurally sound. It would embarrass me so much as a kid!

@bohemianbailie: wow… yeah FI was doing that at EVERY venue… it drove me bat sh*t crazy since he’d walk out and go “its okay we’ll find something let’s keep looking!” i had already contacted about 80 diff venues and he’d still manage to find something wrong with them! his favorite line was “I don’t like where this support column is.” is your dad an engineer?

aww that is so cute that your FI noticed that the lights are out. he wants the color green as one of our colors. That is it so far. I am sure he will have more opinions as we continue planning.

haha I can’t think of anything like THAT off the top of my head but when I told him about his presents to his parents, groomsmen, and Best Man he said, “Shouldn’t me getting married be enough of a gift?” hahahahaha yeah, you wish, buddy.

My FH’s one request was that we have chocolate milk served with the wedding cake. The catering manager at our venue was pretty amused by that one.

Wow, those are some pretty cute suggestions! Lol!
(Note to self: Make sure the tablecloths are down to the floor!) I have learned something new!
