I would like some help please. My wedding dress is going to have straps, that sit just on the shoulder. Do you think it would be better for bridesmaids to be in strapless dresses so they’re different to me, or with straps so they compliment me, or does it just depend on what goes?

My dress has straps and my girls are wearing strapless. I think the most important factors should be what they look best in and what they are comfortable wearing.

I agree with LGenz. The last wedding I was in the bride wore strapless and 2 BMs had straps 3 didnt. All the photos looked great and all the BMs were comfortable in their dresses and looked great.

I don’t think it really matters… This is what I wore and what my BM’s wore…

I don’t think it matters that much. I had thin straps, one bridesmaid had thick straps, and the other had none. But if I were a bridesmaid, I’d prefer straps. It makes dancing easier.

Thanks ladies. Yes you’re right, when it comes down to it, it will depend on what they like and feel comfortable in. This may mean not all wear the same but I think this can look good 🙂 I think i’ve lost sight a bit by trying to decide on too many things all at once. Thanks for the photos sunshine and artbee. I love the gerberas sunshine, they’re fab. 😉

I’m also going to suggest (for those of us who are a little more full up top) that if you go with strapless, you suggest (and assist with) having a tailor make straps out of any leftover/alterations material. It does a world of good.

I don’t think it matters compared to your dress. But I would ask your BMs your preference–I NEVER wear strapless dresses and would flat out refuse to wear one as a BM. I know most people don’t have this problem, but I think it’s a good thing to check.
