    HI Bees,

I'm marrying a week from today!  I went to my final fitting yesterday and even with having the bodice taken in, the top tends to stick out a bit.  I wasn't planning to wear straps, but the seamstress and my bridesmaid suggested wearing straps.  The straps did seem to hold the top of the dress down, which would make me more comfortable (I don't want my cleavage showing in my bridal pics).  What do you think...straps or no straps?  Sorry the picture clarity isn't the best.

    Thanks!

    Melissa

I vote straps. For some reason I think it adds elegance.

I think it looks better strapless in this picture, so I voted strapless.  But that said, if you will be more comfortable with the straps, then by all means wear them.  Also, you mentioned the top "puckers" when it's strapless, and I don't see any puckering in the picture.  I'm just basing my opinion off of the picture.  But if the people who can see the dress in real life are all unanimous that it is better with the straps, I'd probably listen to them.

    Thanks, ladies!

Ms. E - I used the wrong term.  It's late and I'm tired.  lol  I meant that the top sticks out a bit, not puckering/gathering.  Thanks for your thoughts, by the way!  :o)

I say straps.  If you will feel the top of the dress is held down better with the straps and you will not be showing as much cleavage add the straps.

I say that because I am rather busty myself and when I tried on my dress when it came in and both the seamstress and my mom said I needed the straps added to hold the dress better.  I am actually having 3 sets of spaghetti straps added and having them fan out across my back to attach to the dress.

Do you have a more clear picture of how much it sticks out?  The straps do work - especially if it will take care of the issue you are having with the dress.

Oracle - Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of how much it sticks out.  From my perspective (looking straight down & from the side view), I'd estimate it sticks out about 1/4 of an inch.  I know it doesn't seem like much, but being "blessed" on the top, I just don't want to feel like I'm popping out for everyone to see.  Thanks for your helpfulness!!

the dress is beautiful, and a few small straps wont change that at all. if it makes you feel more comfortable, DEFINITELY do it, or you might be thinking (along with your nerves) on the day "why didn't i put on the straps?"

thats the last thing you want to worry about.

Keep in mind, when YOU look down you see WAY more than someone who is viewing you from the front. We always think we're showing off the gals more than we really are...

JennHasFeet - You are so kind!  I suppose I could have the straps added and always snip them out if needed.   Thanks again for your words of advice!

Macgal06 - You're probably right!  I think I'm just overly conscientious about it because I've seen SO many pics of women where I think they show WAY too much cleavage than they should on such a special day.  Thanks for your insight!

I think it looks nice with th straps, so if wearing them will make your more comfortable, then I say go with it!

I think it looks better without the straps, i didn't get to vote, but it makes your shoulders look narrower. How about adding a discret piece of elastic to the inside of the top. Thats what my seamstress is trying before messing with the beading in my dress. If that doesn't work we are going to mess with taking in the beading. But its worth a shot.

Smile  You girls are awesome!  I think I'm going to go with straps.  If for some reason they are bothersome or don't do the job I was hoping, I'll just carefully snip them off.  Thanks again, Bees!!!
