Well, I answered most of this in the PM, but I’ll throw it out in the open too. 🙂

1. What kind of crystals did you use?

Swarovski 2028 Flatbacks in Cobalt, Volcano and Black Diamond

2. Where did you get them?

DreamtimeCreations.com

3. How many different sizes did you use, and what was the smallest and biggest you used?

5ss, 7ss, 9ss, 12ss, 16ss, 20ss

4. What is the fabric of the shoe you strassed? Would you do it again on the same type of shoe?

I’ve done fabric, suede and patent leather.

5. How long did it take you do make the shoe?

First pair took 80 hours, second pair took about 40 hours, thirs took between 20 and 30 hours.

6. How many crystals are on each shoe?

About 9,000 per pair.

7. How have they stood up to use?

I’ve only worn them around the house to break them in, but I haven’t lost any yet.

8. Do they make the shoe fit tighter?

No, but they are heavier and don’t stretch to be larger.

9. Is there anything you would change about making the shoes?

Since I’ve had three shots at it, I regret not lining all of the seams with small crystals on the first pair of shoes. I did on the other two and I think it looks much more professional.

I’m starting on the path that is strassing shoes, and I’ve looked at all the posts here, but no one is replying to my comments, so I thought I’d make my own post. Can all who did their own strassed shoes answer some questions for me?

1. What kind of crystals did you use?

Swarovski Dark Indigo

2. Where did you get them?

http://www.rhinestonebiz.com/p-2187-swarovski-crystal-flat-back-rhinestones-9ss-dark-indigo.aspx

3. How many different sizes did you use, and what was the smallest and biggest you used?

7, 9, 12, and 16ss

4. What is the fabric of the shoe you strassed? Would you do it again on the same type of shoe?

suede, and yes

5. How long did it take you do make the shoe?

1 month

6. How many crystals are on each shoe?

A little over 3500 (but I wear a size 5)

7. How have they stood up to use?

Great, I have worn them to dance practice and at the wedding. They are still pretty and I plan to wear them again.

8. Do they make the shoe fit tighter?

Nope… in fact I wore them so much before the wedding I thought I stretched them out.

9. Is ther anything you would change about making the shoes?

I would have spent more time with the edges. To me it was alittle sloppy… but everyone raved about them.

There are some pics here from when I finished them:

and here is one at the wedding… I can’t wait to see the pro pics.

Yes, I started by doing the largest stones frist and then made my way down to the smaller ones to fill in the gaps. I think I should have lined the edges first and then went from the larger stones to smaller ones.

I used flat backs… I like to control the amount of glue. It was a preference.

1. What kind of crystals did you use?

Glass crystal rhinestones

2. Where did you get them?

http://stores.ebay.com/askecreations1 and Joann’s

3. How many different sizes did you use, and what was the smallest and biggest you used?

2-4mm

4. What is the fabric of the shoe you strassed? Would you do it again on the same type of shoe?

Patent leather that was painted to match color scheme, and yes.

5. How long did it take you do make the shoe?

A few weeks (mostly on weekends and hour or two each night after work)

6. How many crystals are on each shoe?

3-4,000 depending on the size of the crystals

7. How have they stood up to use?

So far I’ve only worn them during a gown fitting, and yes, they did well with a few that came off (but that’s because I was running low on glue and spread it thin in certain areas)

8. Do they make the shoe fit tighter?

I didn’t notice a difference

9. Is there anything you would change about making the shoes?

I probably would have put more glue in the areas I skimpt on :oP
