Stress Relief?

posted 4 months ago in San Francisco Bay Area

Ladies,

I am sure that we are all under ridiculously large amount of stress - I got a facial tick this morning!  With dress fittings, make up trials, and bridesmaids issues, etc., what are you doing to try to relax? I don't think I've been this tense in my life! Drastic times....

I got engaged on May 1. I am getting married on October 12. We live in Phoenix, AZ. The wedding is in Florida. I am arranging everything pretty much myself. Stress? Got it.

Stress relief? Wine. Lots and lots of wine.

Seriously, I'm actually having a lot of fun planning this day, because I keep reminding myself it is a day of fun and joy. When I start to stress out about something I remind myself of the meaning of the day, which has nothing to do with place cards or  matching stationary.

I also do yoga twice a week, pilates twice a week, and cardio five times a week. It keeps my endorphins up and gives me time to think about absolutely nothing else but moving my body.

What am I doing to destress?

  • blogging all of my frustrations and complaints
  • getting monthly massages and facials
  • going to the gym 3 days a week (light weights, jogging, yoga)
  • taking naps whenever I can
  • no longer drinking caffeine after 12noon
  • wine or beer a few nights a week with dinner or while watching tv

I'm still stressed, but all of this helps me deal with it better and keeps me from fighting with people and crying.

yep - wine, gym and sleep - the winning combo.  i'd also add making sure to have someone to vent to/keep you grounded when things are nutty and to try and take at least one night off from the wedding each week.

now that we've moved from planning/prep to actually making/doing things, i'm keeping detailed lists (checking things off is a form of de-stressing for me) and trying to get as much done as early as possible without burning out.

hang in there!
