Wedding planning is VERY stressful! You have over a year I would suggest showing him some examples of how much stuff actully costs and then taking a few weeks off from planning to think.

I dont know if this is an option for you but we are having a small DW with 8-10 people (us included) and then having a hometown reception. IMO its the best of both worlds

I think that if you do want to do it here, you can accomplish it for around 7 or 8 thousand – esp. with a small guest list.  My wedding was about 16-17K for 130 (planned and paid for) people.

This is the best place for you to be, there are lots of wonderful ideas & lots of help.  Tell us about what you are envisioning & we can help you out!  Promise.

But the real point is… is this the wedding that BOTH of you want?  That’s what’s most important!

Resort destination weddings at an all inclusive resort tend to be much less expensive than having a wedding at home.

If it’s the photography that’s taking you over the budget, I can recommend a photographer that will shoot the wedding for free if you cover his travel costs.

Wow, i am sorry to hear that. We planned at staying at 5000. Well we are about 8000 for everything. Including airfare for 4 to Texas. The best decision we made was to hire a wedding planner. She has saved us soo much money. And we are getting decorations and a venue I would have never thought we could do in our budget. I think you two can do it. We saved a bundle by booking the banquet room in a brand new Hilton Garden Inn hotel. They were new to the area so their catering rates were rediculously low…like 25 bucks a head. We did beer and wine only to save on alcohol costs. AND we paid for things as we went. There is some risk in doing that. But if you deal with reputable vendors with a lot of clientel I think you will be ok. Except for the dj…he was too new for me. I paid him the deposit and that was it. The rest he will get 3 days prior as our contracts state. Also, don’t hesitate to ask if they can customize menu choices so you can save money. The hotel only had these package deals and they were so expensive. BUT they needed business so they built a package for way less. Also, you can do the same for your photographer. I really wanted 2 photographers but we just couldn’t afford it. The photographer gave us the package we wanted but with 1 less photog. at the price we could afford. You may have to use your bartering skills. Goodluck!
