These are some string balls i have made. I am going to hang them in the trees above the ceremony. The second pic is an attempt at making lace balls but they are very touchy when dry as you can prob tell its dented already.

The string balls look great. I can imagine doing them with those round balloons too.
Are you going to put a string of bettery operated lights inside?

@julies1949: Im not sure about the lights as they might be up too high to turn on at night but it would look so pretty. def going to think about it.

You can get battery operated string lights with a remote control

How hard was it? I thought about doing it but it just looks like so much extra work.

Its so easy to do. all you need is a roll of yarn, some wall paper paste, petroleum jelly, and some balloons. its so easy.
this link shows the paste i used.
all i did is blew up a balloon and tied some string around the tail and hung it from a stick (mop handle, broom handle)
after that i got petroleum jelly and covered the balloon in it (this is so when the glue dries it wont pop the balloon)
then after that i got my bucket with the glue in it and put the string in the glue to make sure it is covered in glue (be careful as the string tangles once the glue is on it)
i then started wrapping the string around the balloon until i was happy with how it looked.
then left to dry for 24hrs and then poped the balloon.
You may want to spray it with some clear paint hardener but if you use enough glue it dries pretty firm. ATT: IF YOU ARE USING AS LIGHT SHADES YOU WILL HAVE TO SPRAY WITH A FIRE RETARDANT>
