I need a recommendation for a strings quartet or trio to play at my wedding next summer.  I am looking to spend less that $700 for the ceremony/cocktail hour.  Thanks in advance!

Have you considered contacting the music programs at area universities?  I work at GMU and we have a student quartet play every year at our Honors Student Reception.  I think each student is paid $100/hour.

I'm not from DC but I hired a local music professor and some students for $120 pp to play for the ceremony and it was cheaper per hour if I'd booked them for longer.  They were extremely professional and played lovely music!

@summerdcbride: did you find someone to play at your wedding? If so, can you pass on the info?

Thanks ladies, I ended up finding a harpist.  I'm very excited, we are using Melissa Tardiff Dvorak who plays beautifully and is under our budget.

I'm now searching for exactly the same thing - a string trio or quartet.  Any other recommendations?

    Thanks!

Having some trouble locating a good group (I'm currently contacting some of the area schools).  Please let me know if anyone has any recommendations!

    Thanks :)
