Could you just print black stripes on white paper to achieve the look that you'd like? Do you have access to a design program that will allow you to create a stripe layout?
my FI has mentioned doing that too. he thought he could figure something out on photoshop. i did get a tip to look for scrap booking paper. i'll figure something out..
The woman who did my daughter's birthday invites did the same thing that Cupcake suggested. She just made a wave pattern {it was a swimming party} and printed the liners in aqua. So cute!
I think printing is going to be the easiest way to get what you're looking for while allowing enough white space for the text to be legible.
well i am double layering. the bottom layer is going to the stripes and then the other layer on top of that where the writing will be.
Printing will probably end up being less expensive -- scrapbook paper can get pricey!
We couldn't find the "right" patterned paper for our envelope liners, so our designer created one, and just printed it out -- but it still looks awesome.

i am making my own invitations and i am having the hardest time finding black and white striped paper for our black and white stripes theme. i see a lot of black and white patterns, but nothing just black and white stripes. anyone happen to come across any?
