ugh ive been at 159 for the past 2-3 weeks, and i cant seem to get over it! i excercise 5 days a week for 1 hr do cardio elliptical or jumprope. eat somwhere around 1200 cals and wont loose more weight.
should i up my calories,work out more?

What about doing some strength training. Building muscle will help you burn more calories. Plus you will have more definition and look more toned. I absolutely love working with weights and wish I could do that everyday instead of boring cardio. It gets exciting when you start seeing more definition and when you start seeing yourself get stronger as well. Good luck!
Also…1200 is likely not enough calories if you are that active.

Up your calories to the point where you are NETTING 1200 a day, not eating 1200 TOTAL. You might not be eating enough. Also, avoid drinking your calories & increase your water intake. Maybe take a look at where your calories are coming from: focus on whole foods (fruits, veggies, lean proteins, whole grains) and eliminate/reduce processed foods (white bread, white rice, sugary snacks, sugary drinks)
Another thing to try is maybe lifting weights 2x a week and do cardio the other 3. Weight lifting = more lean mass = higher metabolic rate 🙂
You can break through the plateau, you just need to change it up a little bit! You can do it 🙂

As PPs said. 1200 total is probably too small. Try zigzagging your calories. 1200 one day, 1800 the next.
Also, what about the quality of those calories? What kinds of foods are you eating?
And finally, take measurements of your waist etc. The scale can lie.

Lots of water… and if you arent you should try to run a mile evry week or more… I was doing the same thing and was stuck and couldnt figure out why but when I started to do a mile at least twice a week added to what i was already doing the ten pounds I was trying to get rid of… melted away about 4 weeks later

SO TRUE! I’ve been working with a trainer and she does my measurments every month. Even though I haven’t lost THAT much lbs wise, I’ve dropped 3 inches from my waist alone and my bodyfat % has dropped 2 points! My coworkers have def noticed and keep saying I must have lost a bunch of weight and are surprised when I say I’ve only lost about 7 lbs. My body just looks more compact due to strength training.

Do some strength training in your workouts (weights) not just cardio. I think running really helps with losing weight…has worked wonders for me!!

i just upped my calories to 1400, hope it helps thats around what i started with when i started to loose weight. i use a jumprope with weights once or twice a week.
I think i will try weights, i do see a difference on my body but do get a little down when i dont see the scale go down. FI has weights sitting in the patio, time to break them in hehe
i drink around 3l of water a day, and i have cut out startbucks but soda is my downfall.

@Missus_LLC: I forgot to ask… do you use any apps or websites like MyFitnessPal or Sparkpeople? I like MFP because you log in everything you eat, as well as any exercise you do, and it tells you how many calories you net. It is a quick easy tool to get a quick snapshot of your diet.

yeah thats what ive been using! i love it! thats how i upped my cal to 1400 hehe
