I know this is my first post, but I seriously am having difficulty finding a dress I like! My parents are paying for my wedding, but I don’t think that they will take the rest of the preperations seriously (venue, catering, etc.) until I get a dress and show them that this is really happening! (And the answer is yes, my wedding is only 8 months away and I still have no ceremony or reception venue.)
I’ve been engaged (technically) for 2 years. I’ve been planning this for a while. It’s just the money problem, and the people holding the pursestrings are dragging their feet!!
Sigh, anyway. The reason for this post is the fact that I seriously cannot find ANY dresses that I just LOVE! I know the hype about finding “the dress” is probably way too overated (we can’t all be the same as the girls on “Say Yes to the Dress”). But, still. Even my friends say that eventually, when you put on THAT dress, you’ll know, you’ll love it, and no other dress will compare in whole.
I’ve been shopping 4 times now, and, while other people are telling me “Oh, that’s perfect!”, I’m not feeling it. I’m just not completely sold on them. :/
I’ll post pictures of the dresses I’ve already tried on (and let me apologize ahead of time of the…unapealingness of myself. No makeup, and I’m not the skinniest person in the world), and maybe someone else can offer opinions.
The last dress is the favorite among everyone else, but I’m very…meh about it. 🙁

I really like the second to last one! The halter is very flattering on you – much more than the last one – but that’s just my opinion! All very pretty dresses!
I’m not the smallest person either and when I went shopping I got frustrated and didn’t think I was going to find anything. Keep looking and you’ll know when you find one that’s for you! Definitely don’t settle if you feel just meh about it. Good luck and keep your head up!

I like the second dress. I think its most flattering. To be honest I really don’t like the last dress. I think dresses that split open in the front aren’t very flattering. They add bulk where you don’t want it. Just my opinion though. #2 looks fab on you!

What is your price range? are these dresses ones you are contemplating or do you want help finding some.
i really like the second dress on you – it already looks great one you but alterations will do wonders. and girl you should have seen me in my pics from trying on dresses. i looked a mess.

I really like both of the ruched A-lines (2nd and 3rd dresses) that you have on! You look gorgeous in them! Don’t get discouraged!

The second dress is the most flattering.

The second and last dress are more flattering, but I like #2 best as well.
What do YOU like about each dress?? Anything? When I was trying on dresses, I was alsways thinking…well I liked the ballgown skirt on that dress, but the halter on this dress. Soon enough, you’ll be able to find the one that has everything you want!! Keep looking!

I love the 3rd dress honestly.
I think a dropped waist silhouette and a modified sweetheart neck are beautiful on you.
Also the modified A-line looks great as it just floats down from your dropped waist line and elongates the body.
What do you like/not like about each of the dresses? What is your price point?

I really like #2 and #3! I think the strapless style is much more flattering on you! #3 give you a great wasitline and hourglass shape!
Halters tend to not work as well on us bigger chested ladies, in my opinion! 🙂

I am not the skinniest girl either and I had my own struggles finding a dress. Don’t get discouraged, and try to have fun with it. I squeezed and shimmied my way into many dreses, and even got stuck in one! If I felt uncomfortable in a dress or didn’t like the way I looked I found something to laugh at so that i kept the experience fun.
In all I think I went to 6 stores and tried on a ton of dresss before I found the “one”…but what we did do was note what we liked and didn’t like about the dresses that were in the reject pile to keep tabs and narrow it down a bit. By the last two appointments I had an idea of what did and did not work on my body.
I like dresses 2 and 4 as they elongate you. Have your tried a v-neck, non-halter drop waist dress? This may accentuate your bustline in good way and give you the same support as a halter, but with less fabric on top. The dresses are all pretty, have fun and trust me you will find the dress!

Everything looks lovely on you, but I’m not really feeling them on you yet either, so you’re not alone! I don’t think 4 stores is too many – keep at it and persevere! You will find your dress! 🙂

I’ve been to at least as many stores as you, and like a PP suggested, writing down what you do and don’t like about each dress will help you find the perfect dress. It is about you, and you are going to be marrying the man of your dreams, so you want to feel beautiful and confident when you walk down the aisle, right? There’s still some time for you to look around and find something that you’re at least comfortable in and puts a smile on your face. Also, each store is different in what they carry, and you just never know what might be out there waiting for you. I also suggest going by yourself so you can get an idea of what YOU like, not what everyone else says is good on you, and then if you can narrow it down to just a few and you want some opinions you can show them your final contenders (I’d also announce that you already like these gowns, that way your entourage will only be positive about them). I wish you all the luck and make sure you post pictures when you find your dream gown!
oh, and welcome to the bee!
