Why not through the black in there? I think it’s really dramatic and romantic looking.

(Here’s a few ideas… I tried to shrink these pictures but I’m sorry if they wind up huge!)

Don’t be afraid to bring in another color just because it isn’t a “wedding” color. My wedding is red and white and I had the florist do a Purple bouquet for MOH and add some purple to the floral arrangements. Most everything else is Red and White, but a few pops of purple, along with a touch of gold in each centerpiece, will help round out the look inside the venue.

Don’t be afraid to do exactly what you want!

@coffeekitty: Those are my colors too! David’s Apple Red, White and then some deep purple thrown in there (not too much through- I don’t want it to be a Red Hatters party!)- My flowers and the centerpieces will be white and red with hints of purple.. and the B.M.s will have purple with accents of white and red.

I agree that you don’t have to stick to two or three colors. Get a main idea/feeling in mind and then feel free to branch out to whatever you think looks good!

You could also incorporate some dark berries like blackberries etc which would add some texture and fit with a september wedding. I have seen these used and they look great! These are the best pictures I can find…. not great examples sorry. The best picture is probably the last one, but obviously it’s the wrong colour scheme so just imagine it with some red flowers

Hmm just wondering how you ended up with a red and black palette if you like pink and cream and green?  I think you could have red, cream, and all the shades of pink in between.  Anyway here are some inspiration pictures that might help…

hahaha. the wedding colors are a guideline. no need to stick to them for everything. but picking complimentary colors is important to maintain the look. i work in a design-oriented field and we use color palates to pick everything! try this:

Here are a couple of palates to give you an idea. just block out the colors you don’t want to use to see how different colors will work as accents to your red and black.

@papercrane- that’s awesome! I’m glad to hear of someone else doing it! My family objected when I told them we were varying from the red and white scheme to have a little fun with purple flowers, but I held strong and the florist promised my mother it would look good!

we have Red and ivory as our main colors, but I threw in some gold and Orange too.   (I am a HUGE UT VOLS fan and I was very disappointed when my FI said he would not support an Orange and White wedding. and then my girls vetod Orange dresses anyway.)

You could add Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple,

I’m just going to throw out that red and white bouquets are not boring!  If you get a variety of flowers to give it some texture and such – they are actually quite stunning!

When done correctly, red and pink can be a beautiful theme.  I found two boards that I adore.  The second board puts red, pink, and gray together…love it!
