@amandasouthcarolina:  It’s overwhelming for sure. That’s why I just set up autopay and stop looking at it!

@amandasouthcarolina:  Yup, I hate it.  Half our take home ends up going towards our loans, =(. It makes me feel like I’ll be poor forever.

@amandasouthcarolina:  I hate school loans!! uugghhh I guess I’m lucky thou mine is only 50 dollars a month so it gives me plenty space to pay a little more, and also all I owe is 2700 so I guess is not that bad.

@amandasouthcarolina:  This is exactly why I chose to go to a CC first then a state school and pay out of pocket per semester by working. I’m sorry, that totally sucks!

ughhh, student loans are the worst!  I too set up autopay so I don’t have to see it all the time.. BUT big note of caution.. IF you change banks make sure they do it properly!!  They told me my autopay was set up fine with the new bank but it wasn’t.  The payment came out of my old account and when I called them to fix the problem they somehow thought I was asking for a “forebearance” or something and they put one on me for 3 months!!!  I called back and was like um no, that is not what i need, i just need you to take the payment from the new bank acct.  Anyway… the jerks ended up increasing my montly payment b/c i had “missed” a payment!  I was furious and when I called to try to clear it up they were ZERO help, the person who had given me his name in our previous conversation couldn’t be found/located and I was basically told there was nothing I could do!!!  Moral of the story is set up the auto pay, don’t ever change banks and never, ever, ever call them for anything b/c you’ll just end up with a huge headache and your monthly payment will go up!  (end vent)  sorry :-/

They are THE WORST.  I pay over 1200 a month, and it will take all 30 years.  Each year the monthly payment goes up.  It’s awesome.  When I got my education, I didn’t realize it mean mortgaging away my future.  Mine are over 200K which I thought was horrible, until I found out a guy I work with has 420K between him and his wife.

@amandasouthcarolina:  YEP. I freak out all the time about loans. It’s another mortgage payment and it sucks soooo hard. I wish I could pat my 18 year old self on the head and say “no no, honey, you need to go to state school.”

I’m not yet in repayment for my student loans (I’m taking a few courses at a CC close by), but I am paying towards them each month now so that the interest won’t be as great when I finally do have to start full-on repayments. Thankfully, maybe, my husband didn’t go to college, and has no plans to at this point, so we don’t have two student loans to worry about paying.

In hindsight, I should have gone to a community college first, and then transferred to finish up my degree.

@amandasouthcarolina:  I look at mine every month just so I can see the total balance go down just a little, in the hopes of paying it all off someday. *sigh* Right now I have like $90k in grad school loans and pay $1100/mo. That’s more than my rent right now!

What’s frustrating is when your loan company keeps CHANGING on you… I got a letter in the beginning of the year saying another company was taking a bunch of loans on.  It was apparently too overwhelming for them, as I just got notification my loan is being transfered to another company.  Which made paying it this month super confusing.  Achk.

@amandasouthcarolina:  It literally took me 4 months to get my stuff straightened out with the now former company – I had a payment plan with my original company that I had to reapply for with the new (now former) company.  Only good thing that came out of it was my payments were put off for a couple of months…lol
