I'd do a little bit of both--bring an umbrella and some raincoats--and see if he'd be willing to go outside even if it's raining, if you bring along an extra person (mom maybe?) to hold an umbrella over the photographer. Even icky/cloudy/ugly weather is totally doable! After all, most of the photos will be of the two of you, not necessarily all the landscape around you.
Ooh, if it's raining, the clouds might look AH-MAZING! I agree with ejs4y8--get the outdoor pictures you love, but be prepared to do a little of both!

So we're getting our engagement pictures taken this Friday... our photographer takes the pictures either in his studio, or outside behind the studio if the weather is nice. I reallly want outdoor pictures, but the weather has been awful here. We can only get our pictures done on a Friday due to FI's work schedule, but it has been raining every Friday, and it's supposed to rain again this Friday!
Has anyone had/seen any cute/unique engagement pictures taken inside a studio? Or could outdoor pictures still work even if it is raining/cloudy/miserable out? I'm just not really sure what to do... and being that I'm the first out of any of my friends to get married, I need some bee advice :)
