mmmmmmmmmmmmm i love it!! my mom makes a great dressing, which is different than stuffing but has the same purpose, she's supposed to be sending me the recipe and i will share it... we are post poning thanksgiving on m's side because most of his family will be in the caribbean at his cousin's wedding :(
Hiya! I'm going to make cornbread sage stuffing w/veggie sausage! Not exactly sure which recipe I'll use this year, but last year I modified a Martha recipe and it was delish!
I saw this thread and had to click on it to find out whether it was talking about stuffing like in a turkey, or stuffing like in a bra.
:D
I don't have a recipe that I've made, I've never eaten stuffing since I'm a vegetarian, but I found this on the NYT that looks great! The author said it can be modified to be vegetarian by omitting the pancetta and replacing the turkey stock with vegetable stock. The stuffing can also be put into muffin tins and made that way.
@crebre - definitely share when you get it! One of my favorite things to do is combine bits and pieces of recipes and experiment. That's how I got both my chocolate chip cookie recipe and my whole wheat snickerdoodle recipe!
@ms. awesome - mmm, that sounds delicious! and it opens up a lot of the recipes that I found when I searched for stuffing recipes. I just hope no one complains too much... everyone in R's family is really biased against anything soy/tofu. They like to have cookouts in the summer, and since R and I are both vegetarians, we make a variety of soy/tofu alternatives for ourselves. We always offer to share, and get sneered at!
@Littlest Birds - that recipe looks amazing! I bookmarked it and will definitely try it, thank you so much.
Oh, and I laughed out loud about the stuffing the bra! I didn't even think about that. Someone wrote a post about adult favors a few days ago, and I definitely thought they meant something else by "adult." ;)
@lilyfaith LOL at the "adult favors," I think I would have had the same reaction. Keep trying on getting folks to taste the vegetarian cookout dishes you guys make, people come around eventually! My favorite cookout moment ever was when my old grizzled southern Grandpa asked to try some of my sister's marinated grilled tofu. My family looked at him in astonishment and finally my dad got a twinkle in his eye and said, "You know, Bobby, real men don't eat tofu." My Grandpa didn't even look up from his plate as he growled "Real men gamble."
(He loved the tofu.)
Haha, he sounds like a great guy!
FFIL gamely tried a Smart Dog (the veggie hot dogs) and it gave him indigestion. Whoops!
Some soy foods are really meat-eater friendly, though. I know a lot of meat-eaters who enjoy the Morning Star "chicken" nuggets.
Something that my FMIL does that I LOVE is that she adds sautéed mushrooms.
Mmm, love mushrooms, thanks for the tip! Any specific kind?
I like to use a regular boxed stuffing but then while it is cooking I add golden raisins and chopped apples. You could do this in addition to the mushroom idea above. It would all be wonderful together.

Does anyone have a good recipe?
I was asked to bring it to R's family's Thanksgiving this year, and I want to blow everyone away! I make desserts for them all the time, but haven't really cooked.
PS: It has to be vegetarian, or easily modified to be veggie. I hate making things I can't taste test!
