Beau and I had a discussion about our vows last night. We don’t care for the traditional ‘to have and to hold’ stuff in the JOP ceremony options. The sentiment is there, but the wording isn’t for us. He and I are both songwriters so I figured this would be easy, but, no. He admitted that he’s nervous that he wouldn’t be able to come up with something as lovely as I would (his music and writing is on the humorous and fun side, and mine is on the folky poetic side). He feels his written vows would be ‘lame’ compared to mine, would be a disappointment not only to me but to him and to our guests. I disagree of course, because anything that comes from his heart is going to be beautiful.
Anyway, in the spirit of compromise and in not wanting him to feel badly about this, we decided we’d start looking into some song lyrics that we could use or at least get inspiration from. We’re both huge Beatles fans and have already worked in the lyrics of ‘The End’ into our ceremony, so more musical references will be perfect for us. I’ve searched the googles and there are some websites that list the best love songs of all time, etc., but I thought I’d see if any of you bees knew of some song lyrics, or poems that tie love and music in together, that might suit our vows?
