I am with you! There are very few non-edible favors that I have ever bothered to take home from a wedding.
I think this is a great idea.
I think its a nice idea, I think favours are just another way for the wedding industry to fleece more money out of already overextended brides. If you are going to spend money give it to something worthwhile!
I love this idea!!! something the guests will actually like and something for a greater good. As a guest I would much rather you spend money on a charity than on a plastic widget that I would have thrown out anyways.
That is super cute! I think your guests will love it, and hey - everyone loves chocolate :)
@JRL2012: Im a dog Lover .. I LOVE THIS IDEA .. amazing and 90% of the weddings I go to I throw the favors out because they r junk .. Great Idea !
I actually saw pictures of a wedding at my same venue and they had little boxes and when you opened them up they said - in lieu of a favor, a donation has been made to "name of the animal rescue group." and then they had pictures in the boxes and it said something like - all of the animals shown are available for adoption. I saved the picture because i thought of doing something exactly like that!
In speaking to the catering director at a different venue i asked him about favors and he mentioned how the best favors he's seen are when people make a donation to a cause important to them.
I love love love it!!!! But I'm a huge dog lover
I'm not sure how "regular" people would feel, lol. I'm like you - love to rescue the unwanteds.
I think this is a great idea! We're doing something similar... Chocolates for our guests with a little note saying that we are donating to XYZ charity. Go for it!
Thank you everyone! I've def decided they are the favor for me now :) And the person who told me it was stupid will have to suck it up haha... she was just out voted!
@MadameTussaud: I know! something about the unwanted ones pulls at my heart strings more than normal... I currently have a dog that is scared to death of everyone except for us and the dog pictured is my first baby and he has bite issues but is very sweet to us and my kitty companion hates other cats and most people... since she was a kitten! They will all stay with us for life but we are constantly helping other gets adopted out!
Love the idea! Just make sure the chocolates are labeled (since they'll be shaped like dog bones) so they aren't given to pets by mistake

So I've been trying to decide on what to do for our wedding favors. Well I thought up this great idea... or so I thought. I was told it wasn't really a gift but everything I see I try to think "Would I keep this" and the only thing I could think of was something edible.
So I decided to unite 2 of the great passions in my life... Chocolate and Animal Rescues haha. I decided to make edible chocolates in the shape of dog bones with a little tag stating "For every guest present at our wedding we are donating to ..." and pick a rescue. My FI an I love our "problem children"... since we adopt the un-adoptable ones... and we thought it was a great way to help and yet still a present with homemade chocolate!
Is this stupid? I was thinking of the tag being a picture of us with our "problem children" .I don't know... be honest ! haha
