I am getting married in San Francisco this August and my sister and brother-in-law along with my one year olf nephew are joining us. I am totally clueless about most baby things and especially travelling with a baby but am trying to make things as easy as possible for my sister. So my stupid question…
How do you take cabs with a one-year-old? Is it even possible? What about a limo?? I was thinking of hiring limos to pick us all up at the airport. Then she could probably bring a car seat right? But what about the short 10 minute cab rides? SF is really hilly and so we’ll need to take short cab rides but you can’t spend 10 minutes putting a car seat in for a 10 minute ride can you??
Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can, and you absolutely have to if you are taking a baby in a cab.

Most car seats are actually pretty easy to install with a seat belt (mine takes maybe 60 seconds). Some people don’t use them in cabs, but it’s best to do so.

Thanks for clearing this up. I just assumed that the one in my sister’s care was fairly perminent/hard to install and I was beginning to think I’d need to special order a car that had a car seat in it or something! I guess I will just make sure that she remembers to bring it and that she can instal is relitively easily.

All states require some kind of car seat for babies/toddlers/children for passenger vehicles so yeah you would need to install a base or car seat into anytype of vehicle that baby rides in.
