ushers don't stand up with the wedding party, they sit with the rest of the guests. but many people just have their groomsmen play ushers too.
We are having our groomsmen be ushers. I think that's fairly traditional but I do sometimes see other men doing the role of usher which seems to be more popular lately? Don't know. It's not a stupid question, thats for sure.
Ushers seat the guests. Most of the time, groomsmen take on double duty as ushers. If there are seperate ushers, then they would be seated among the guests.
We are having separate ushers and groomsmen and the ushers help the guests to their seats and then sit with the guests. I don't think I've every been to a wedding where the groomsmen were also ushers.

...between a groomsman and an usher? Do usher's stand up there with the bridal party. I guess I always thought groomsmen and usher's played the same role.
