You could probably just fill it out as if you were a married couple. When you file your taxes next year, the government will consider you married for the entire year anyways.
@Miss Chirpie- That is so true. I never thought of it that way.
The problem is that we live apart. I guess we could say we are married but keep separate addresses, but that seems strange... I guess I'm not really upset about it, just a little disappointed.
I work for the Census; Sorry we screwed up your day!
And don't lie on your Census form! It's illegal!
Yep and then the Census will just get one of you to fill out whichever was not returned!
I agree! We just got the census in the mail today and are getting married in May. Wish we could fill it out as a married couple =(
Hey, I don't care. As long as we get married this year, I don't mind what the census says. Breathe.
I doubt that 79% of the poll responders really mean that "you're completely nuts," but that still made me laugh. :) Don't feel bad, after waiting so long to be married, every little acknowledgement of it can mean a lot, so it's understandable that this would mean something to you.

Ok, so this isn't about anything like visas or important stuff like that but...
I just got a letter today saying that the census is coming in a week. I had really really been hoping it would come later in the year after FI and I were married. We don't live together now, so we'll have to fill it out separately as singles. I know it's not really a big deal, but it annoys me that we won't fill it out as a married couple until 2020 now. So for the next decade, even though I'll be married for 9 1/2 years of it, I'll be inflating the numbers of single people in my town... boo.
