Hi all – I was wondering if anyone has had a subchorinic hematoma or bleed in their pregnancy? I went in for an us Monday, and was able to see the baby and see it’s heart rate. She told me everything looked good, but then when talking to my OB afterward she said they saw an area/pool of blood near the implantation site. I’m not bleeding, so she said to watch and wait, and that sometimes this can cause miscarriage but it also just might go away.
Has anyone dealt with this? I’m feeling nervous, but after our nuchal test problems last time, I’m feeling like I don’t want technology to freak me out when there’s nothing I can do anyway. 🙁

We didn’t know, but I had a subchronic hematoma early in this pregnancy. My body reabsorbed the bleed at some point in my pregnancy, and the baby is absolutely fine. My doctor actually didn’t catch it until my 20 week ultrasound, at which point they discovered that the cord had implanted partially on the membrane as a result of the earlier bleed. At this point, my doctor says the only concerns are that the placenta may need to be manually removed after delivery (ouch!). But the baby looks great, and the original hematoma is no longer an issue.
I hope you have a similar outcome. I know it’s scary, but hopefully this will end up not being an issue for you. I’ll keep you and baby #2 in my thoughts! 🙂

I had a subchorionic hematoma, too. They found it at around 12 to 14 weeks or thereabouts. I was pretty nervous about it but as Mrs. Spring described, my body reabsorbed it at some point during the pregnancy.
I would try not to worry about it.
