Good for you! South Beach is a really healthy program. My parents did it and they are so much healthier now. It's great that you can share the change with your FH!

Congrats! The weight loss during Phase 2 is a bit slower, but it's fairly constant. I love the diet!

That is fantastic for you! I found a friend that is willing to support me and focus on low/healthy carb eating...for her it is a goal to be healthy while she starts her Ph.D program, for me it is the wedding. Setting goals (big and mini) is really helpful. I'm glad you can share your healthy lifestyle with your partner!!

Congrats! Just an FYI-my hubby gains and loses weight slower than me, so perhaps your FI is like him. On our all-inclusive honeymoon two weeks ago I gained 5 lbs and he gained nothing (we drank sugary drinks and ate all week!). But I can drop 2-3 lbs in a week easily and he'll only lose 1/2 lb -1 lb maximum.
I used South Beach Diet about 5 years back to lose some weight and I had great success with it...keep it up!
I JUST started this today! Just had my am snack! I am trying to get my FI to do it with me....he is SO bad at diets! But I need it alot more then he does! I have had 3 babie in 4 years! I dont have aot of time left but I figure what I can loose is great! I kind of just impulsivly decided to start the diet last night....didnt have much in my fridge but I think I am ok for today...going to have to go grocery shopping tonight HAHA
Hm, so we began phase two and have been being careful (just one serving of fruit, up to one serving of whole grain per day) and I somehow managed to gain back 1.5 lbs. Is this normal at first? I'm a bit frustrated. Thanks :-)
Just a quick update to say things are going very well! Even with a friend staying with us for a few days and doing more eating out than we should, we've each lost 13 pounds so far. It pays to stick with it, even through the plateaus! Thanks for all the encouragement!
Great progress! The small changes are all due to water and are totally normal. Adding fruit = more water, but that's a good thing. FI and have just finished 2 weeks. I'm down about 5 pounds. He doesn't weigh himself, but I bet he's lost at least 10. This weekend's gonna be a bit rough with so many parties, but I have my boudior shoot next week so lots of motivation!

Hi Hive,
I wanted to share some good news that I'd feel awkward talking about with most of my friends/family outside of the hive :-)
FI and I both want to lose some weight before our wedding. We've always eaten well and exercised regularly, but that mainly resulted in us maintaining the weights we've been at for awhile now. We decided to be even more mindful of our eating habits and to start following the South Beach plan. It has been just under 2 weeks now, and I've lost 7 lbs!! I'm very excited. FI has lost 4 lbs, which is great too, although I had assumed that he would lose more quickly than me since guys usually have an easier time of it. We both have quite a ways to go til we're at our goal weights, but it is encouraging to have such a good start!
